JG, you have a valid point.

Hale might be more popular on these boards, but I can't help but feel that in ME2 she got worse.

the only time I found her worse was when she talked to Jacob.  That was a bad.  Just really bad.

I know, it sounds like she's forcing these talks. I'm not big at that.

Funnily enough I couldn't stand Hale in ME1 but think she's fantastic in ME2.

Meer never had me turning up the volume to listen to him talk. Hale did in ME2. I just wished she'd speak up and shout when she's angry instead of seeing her mumble under her breath. If she went back to the way she VAed in ME1, I'd be fine with that in ME3.

The Master Chief is not a character.

He is an empty shell for you to project your own identity onto in order to play out a power fantasy to overcompensate for your own shortcomings.

In the games at least. It is slightly different in the books.

I really do not want Shepard to become the same.

The illusive man says shepard is a symbol. I never felt I was a symbol at all. Sure I got a few discounts at some kiosks.
Bungie on the other hand created an absolute flawless icon. Chief only needed to say several words but in conjunction with insane stunts that made the audience oo and aa. ex halo 2 when he jumps from the ship plants a bomb and takes off.
WTH does shepard do? give a sub par motivational speach to his sqaud.

Wait, you actually think flashy stunts is more important then characterisation?

Wouldn't hurt to have a male VA who had some emotion either.

I never noticed the lack of emotion from male shep but that may be because I am pretty emotionless myself. People always think I'm some kind of murderer because of the lack of emotion. However, when I play Femshep shes really monotone like when MaleShep and wrex were arguing and you could sense sheps frustration where that lacked for the Female version.

Boring? That must be because YOU play your Shepard boring. If you form your Shepards personality (how he responds to different situations) after what you think is fun, i am sure it won't be boring anymore. Bioware gave you freedom to form your character.

I base my main Male Shep (Allan Shepard, my middle name ^_^) off of Solid Snake. Reflective and depresso sometimes, Badass and tuff most of the time. Having a snarky pessimistic attitude and disconnecting the council everytime. Telling Ash right before he unleashes his manliness on her that he "Likes a girl thats a challenge." Sheps a man G'Dammit!!!!

Plus the scene on Virmire when Saren is escaping and Sheps running at him with his pistol screams "LIQUID!!!!"

MA1 had more wow moments. Bioware gave you the chance to intercede on intersteller matters be a heroic or nasty antagonist I felt like a spectre.Virmire did feel like a race against time and the Saren confrontation was hardcore. The new villan needs to be a nasty peice of work to top Saren off his roost.
