Hi all,

I have a 100% reproducible bluescreen at the start of the game. In the original campaign I was able to play up to the end of the tutorial (clicking on the mayor to talk to him on the stage -> 100% bluescreen).
I then tried MOTB and it BSODs immediately after loading the module start, right after character creation.

I have patched the game up to 1.23.1765 german (yes, german, and still talking here because the german forums have no NWN2 section).

I'm kind of worried about this since my SOZ will be arriving tomorrow.

Any early pointers about what I could do? I will probably do a full clean & reinstall before adding SOZ.

Cheers,
Caiburn

Athlon XP3200+ (oldish singlecore cpu)

WinXP Pro 32 SP3

4GB Ram (yes, yes, I know...got it cheap)

Geforce 7300GT

The game was installed long ago (during the old forum days) and I had played it halfway through or so until yesterday. ;)

Okay, not certain, but I do know the video card does not meet minimum requirements, and never did. Add to that video tweaks to improve video performance may well have taken the game completely out of range for your video card.

The minimum 7x00 cards supported is the 7600 series and. while the minum requirement is a 6600. a 7300 is not better than a 6600, and the 7300 is more like a 6400.

Also, the minimum requirements are increased for SoZ is a 6800. You should read Post 2 requarding minimum and recommended requirements.

I also recommend reading Post 3 in regards to viedo cards.

I suspect video may be the problem in this case, but you need to sure your video drivers are up to date and that DX 9.0c and .Net Frameworks are up to date as well. A lot has changed since you initially installed the game.

Aw, a harsh blow. Thank ye, m'lady...even though I wonder how I managed to play the original campaign halfway through a few years ago with the same machine (albeit less RAM).

I'll try and follow the instructions and will upgrade the hardware side if all else fails before asking again. :)

Cheers,

I've never had a compliant card.  Nvidia Geforce 6600 (not on the "will work" list, but on the "should work" one).  You make some sacrifices in your settings.

The fact that it's Nvidia probably helped since that's what the game was designed on.

Also, if you give more information about what the BSOD actually says, it would help in troubleshooting your issue.

The 6600 was on the list of supported cards, and documented as the minimum requirement for NWN 2. It is not, however, supported for SoZ. See this post for details.
