We know of five characters in the game so far, Aveline, Bethany, Carver, Isabela, & Varric. We know they exist & what their classes are, yet why do they not wear any armor? Carver & Aveline are both Warriors & Aveline is a sword & board defender yet we haven't seen them in armor. I know I've been negative about the unchangeable looks but why won't they give my party some armor?

Kirkwall is a swingin', happenin' kinda place, that's why, and armor totally kills the vibe.

Why did I imagine the Hawke family in 1920's Vegas when you said that?

Couldn't this question really be raised in one of the fifteen million topics already covering party-inventory?

Most games marketing campaigns only release screenshots and cinematics from the early game, to avoid late-game spoilers. I doubt we've seen anything from the mid-to-late game yet.

The other threads are already stuck in other discussions about all kinds of things that skirt the issue of what an RPG is, & are full of trolls.

Because they're refugees running away for the lives and they don't have the armor they're going to wear quite yet? Well, that's my guess anyway :P

This.

We've basically seen a bunch of people escape from a massacre with the shirts on their backs, and then mooch about town. Even then, we've seen Bethany stop to switch to a completely different costume. It is a bit odd that Hawke seems to be rocking plate in most situations mind.

I know you were kidding, but  Kirkwall does seem to make Fereldon look sorta like the boonies.

Fereldan's supposed to be this really backwater, downtrodden 'third world'ish country compared to the rest of Thedas.

Well, I'm assuming that armor isn't necessarily affordable to everyone in Ferelden. And if fleeing Lothering or whatever is hectic, sometimes you get a choice between throwing on armor or clothes:

Well, considering poor refugees couldn't possibly afford to buy armor/ had to barter all or most of their possessions for safe passage, I doubt we will have much at the beginning of the game.

Isabela's outfit = easy access. Armor would just slow her down.

Also, chest hair is all the armor Varric needs.

That's so unrealistic; he isn't wearing any shoulderpads and everyone knows that's the most important part of the armour.

Do we have screenshots showing what each NPC wears in combat situation?

Just because NPCs wear outfits does not mean their outfit can't be armour. Look at ME2: there are several NPCs who do in fact wear armour (and that is even counted in the endgame calculations).

No matter how unrealistic it is, I have to endorse Maria's idea there. *whistles innocently* I WAS NOT STARING AT GERARD BUTLER'S ABS!!!! Well, maybe I was, but just for a few seconds! :P

Don't worry, his cod piece will protect his arms
