So last night I upgraded to a slim Xbox.  I did the harddrive transfer and transferred all my licenses from my old Xbox to my new one.  But now it says I don't have the Cerberus Network addon and I have to buy it.  Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?  Thanks!

Hello there, i have just registered to make a reply here to say I too have this problem, I bought a 360 elite about a month back, and had mass effect 2 bundled in, its been running and connecting to cerberus network totally fine, untill today, after doing a clear out of my harddrive and deleting some old game files for games like Assasins Creed, Need for Speed and Mass Effect 1 (which i played for about 5 mins). I was careful about it and made sure not to confuse my Mass Effect 1 and 2 files.

Anyway, after doing that my Mass Effect 2 will not connect to cerberus network, telling me its timing out, oddly enough, i checked my DLC and aparently my 'Cerberus Network' DlC was missing, and I have had to pay to re-download this small file (which takes the p*ss tbh) and still my game will not connect to the cerberus network.

I then cleard the cache of the xbox to see if that helped, no it didnt.

Having been a PC player for years, im now suddenly regretting this xbox, as I feel powerless to try and fix the issue myself, and there is no way i can test the connection.

All my current DLC works fine, so im also curious, what detrimental effect will having a broken cerberus connection have? will it mean in future I cannot buy any further DLC?

Regards

Hey Encarmine, it doesn't mean you can't buy future dlc. What Cerberus network gave you was free access to some of dlc, which you still have. I still have the free dlc as well just not the network. Unless they release any more free dlc tied to the Cerberus Network it'll be fine, but if they release more free dlc we might have to pay for it unless we buy the network code again... which didn't work for you. Not very cool. ME2 is one of my favorite games of all time and this is just annoying.

I also think its one of the best games ive ever played, so im glad I wont miss out on anything in terms of DLC.

Im gutted that re-buying the cerberus network file didnt fix the issue. It just really bugs me that it wont connect for some reason lol I want to help biowear make better games ! ><

thanks for the reply Salz99, its put my mind at rest, as i didnt really know what this would do for future DLC, but if i understand you right, the game will still allow me to download and purchase DLC without my 'cerberus connection' working.

Right Encarmine, the point of the Cerberus Network was that it came with new copies of the game. They want people buying new copies not used ones. Because the Cerberus Network gives you some free DLC. Yeah, I would petition or call someone... not sure who... since you bought it again and it didn't fix it.

well i dont think its a question of if the other downloads work or not its a question of wether you get what is rightfully "yours" sinds i am a "completionist" i want it back period so any word on this from bioware whould be nice sinds microsoft said sinds its a voucher thing they will not do anything about it

did you guys consider going into your download/purchase history? what about the in-game DLC menu? was it possible you got logged off of your connection between your BWSN account and your gamertag? is the DLC still in your registered game promotions?

@ piebaker :

if you download something with a voucher it will not registrate as purchased in the marketplace ( as said by microsoft)

yes but it's in the download history

xbox guide > account management > download history

then file through everything you downloaded and you will find it there

as for cerberus netowork itself. it's just a pass connected to your BWSN account and in the main menu you connect your BWSN account with your xbox live gamertag and then it will tell xbox live that you are cleared for downloading the DLC and you can only download it through the in-game DLC menu

if you're having a problem with getting access to the cerberus network dlc through the in-game menue then go onto this site
profile > registered game promotions
it will tell you what profiles the DLC is connected to and if your gamertag is not showing up then you need to either reconnect it or go to the EA help desk and they will sort it out for you.

locowolfie is incorrect. All downloads are tracked through the "Download History" section of your Xbox Live profile. This includes all items downloaded with a "code", as well as any other transactions made through that account. I have been through 4 xbox 360 units for various reasons (2 red ring of death failures, one DVD drive failure, and one video out failure), and in every instance, following the directions from the pamplet included in the RMA box solved any licensing issues I had. The directions simply spell out how to complete a license transfer. This service can be accomplished once per year by self-initiation, or any number of times if initiated by microsoft.

After the license transfer, one must use the "download history" to download all DLC items again, although if the items are existent on the storage device, the downoad is a few bytes of date (the license), instead of huge downloads. this includes the Cerberus Network.

Because of the tie-in with the bioware social network, and the EA network, it's better to use the in-game interface for these downloads, but it's not ONLY way to do it. As thepiebaker pointed out, ensure that the correct EA account is being used.

Just to reinforce Latharion's input: You can, in fact, re-download stuff you purchased with a voucher. Simply go to Download History and look for it there. Every single item you've downloaded since the day you created your gamertag is stored in there, and you can go back and re-download it for no charge at any time.

That's what I did when I upgraded to a 120 GB hard drive this past summer, since I didn't have a transfer cable (my saves were stored on an MU). I just re-downloaded all the DLC through the download history list, including the Cerberus Network itself. It worked just fine.

Okay, to clear things up. This doesn't NOT work. The download history is there...correct! However, if you attempt to redownload the content from the collector's edition, you will not be able to. Yes it's the same account, yes it was bought new and yes, Microsoft is stating "You have Downloaded the DLC" but is also saying" No, you will not be able to download it again, without buying it for the 1200 Points."

I totally hear what some of you are saying, but as for the others...please don't comment if this has not happened to you personally. You're just not grasping what is happening.

Now, that being said...please Bioware, look into this issue, as I myself would like to play Mass Effect 2 again, in it's full effect. I don't believe I should have to pay...again, the price of admission here. I paid for the collector's edition, so I feel I should have the right to get what I've paid for. I'm sorry that I only have the 20 Gig HD, and that when I need to clear things out to make way for new and shiny, I get rid of the old. But that doesn't mean I want to get rid of it forever, hence I kept the game on my shelf.

I'd love to hear some form of feed back here. Thank you.

I bought the Collector's Edition as well, but the Cerberus Network is strangely not coming up on my download history. Great...this is a bunch of BS. I've played this game a lot because I really enjoyed it and it's my favourite game, and now I'm having problems with this stupid network.
