I'm guessing that the next reveal will be the game's main male lead, who will almost certainly be a romance option as well.

Isn't that Varric? Or is my impressions based on the wishfull thinking of his legion of fans.

I don't think we are going to see "a brand new person" before january.

Two months before release, really? Maybe, considering we're only four, but...I'm not so sure.

Varric might be the male lead, since they're usually introduced pretty early...but my perception is thrown out of whack by having party members with you before you even start the game and those party members being family. Not to mention I'm not sure if they'll make the narrator the male lead?

Still, it could be him.

The only instance in recent memory that BioWare's male lead was not a LI was Sagacious Zu. And then he left half way through through the game.

I have a strong feeling we'll see Aveline next, if she's a companion, or maybe "The Hawkes" all grouped together.

Honestly, though, I don't care to see them. I mean...Varric's page was nice and all, but it didn't do much to hype me since I knew everything on it. I want a brand new person.

This. If they just mean to put on a paragraph about Aveline being married or Cassandra being a seeker and such I'd rather have something new.
But I have a feeling they'll put up more info about someone we've already seen (Aveline, Bethany, Cassandra) and at the same time give us a blurry glimpse of a new nameless companion in some new video and then be silent about that NPC for a month or two until we go crazy speculating about what kind of person it is Image IPB Like those blurry glimpses of Zevran where we didn't even see his face clearly or when Isabela was just the Pirate lady from the video.

Sure occam....just like wrex could have been more than just a cameo in ME2.

It's a matter of money, you do not develop extra fully voiced characters that some people might never see because they let them die

To be fair, you may never see Leliana or Sten because you let them die. A lot of people didn't even realize they were there.

Still, I wouldn't want the Awakening party members to be our companions. I want new people that I can have new perceptions of. People are already divided enough over Isabela.

Cameos are fine, though.

As Saibh mentioned, explain Sten, Leliana, and Zevran then. You can kill Zevran before he has a chance to say a single word outside of his cutscene with Howe and Loghain.

And again, does anyone truly think Ashley/Kaidan won't return in ME3? Seeing as how that death wasn't avoidable, that means at least one voice will go unused for every single person.

Anyway, I don't think any characters from DAO or Awakening will be back as full-time companions, but not because BioWare wouldn't do it if they wanted to.

Origins spans over a period of about 2 years? We only get to see Nathaniel in awakening, I doubt it'll take Hawke 2 years to get to Kirkwall.

More like one year, I'd say, and about four to six months for Awakening.
