Clarification about rogues and their weapons?

I like how the theme of DA 2, in terms of game mechanics, seems to be "less is more". They've cut out the excess that really wasn't needed in Origins and given themselves the time and resources to focus on smaller details (like unique models and what not). If one wants to argue that that is a cut-down on customisation, then fine, I'd rather play the game for the story than for whatever kinds of different gear are on offer anyway.

Perhaps Hawke killed a Warden and took it from him..
Was actually thinking that myself or Flemeth ends up taking control of Morrigan(She failing to escape) and owning the warden(If he still lives) and then later that gear shows up.

But what I find most important is that they are not copy-paste in the manner that they were in DA:O. What's nice about the weapon limitations is that you can still work with the equipment and get more interesting weapon models at the same time.

Making unique outfits for the companions takes MORE art resources, not less. They just wore the same crap as the Warden in DAO, except for Morrigan.CoS Sarah Jinstar wrote...
As many doesn't say "Hey we made more distinct looking tiered armor" because the art team had extra time since they stripped companion armor aside from rings and belts totally out of the game. Considering there really wasn't a ton of variety to be honest in Origins even though I'd still rather have OPTIONS, if its the same for DA2 that doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things.
Maybe if every bit of info and preview didn't scream that DA2 is essentially Dragon Effect, I wouldn't need be so negative.

They were mostly just DEX based warriors with lock picking and stealth. (and you almost never needed to use the stealth for anything) I still kicked butt as a rogue.
Oh I did too. I basically just played it like a DW warrior though, especially in Awakening when you get Legionnaire Scout and are practically invincible. In fact one of my other playthroughs *was* a DW warrior and it was functionally no different except that I could not pick locks. So, while I did have fun playing that type of character I still feel like rogues needed a lot of revision.

Really glad to hear rogues got some lovin' this time around, because I really think they were the overlooked, awkward middle child of Origins classes.

This says it all really. Very pleased to hear rogue's are getting loving in the armor variety department also, I remember seeing Felon's Coat and thinking it might actually look different, like an actual upgrade/rare item... How disappointed I was heh.
But yeah, despite feeling like the middle child I still loved my Origins rogue. Think the most fun I've ever had with DAO is still when I played my Archer/Bard rogue in fact.

Yeah. Rogues were still fun but I think they're looking potentially exponentially more fun this time around. Plus I LOVE how the new rogue armor is looking, at least the one model we've seen.

Yay, another Archer/Bard lover! I thought I was alone in that. I never realised how similar rogues were to warriors until I did my sword and board warrior (and later a DW warrior). Was pretty bummed but still found myself playing Zevran or Leliana most of the time and letting my PC run off tactics. Can't wait to see these new special attacks for archers. And new armour! Rogue senses tingling with excitement here.

Apologies to rogue players who loved their axes, but I believe it was worth it.
Honestly, I never got the appeal to that. Equipping a rogue with two axes is like trying to do ballet in army boots.
No offense to anyone who digged it.

I mean, do the dagger weapons vary in appearance (in regards to being closer to sword-like) at low levels as well as in higher levels, or is the design intent more of a strict "Daggers for Now" => "Daggers big enough to be Swords, Eventually"?
Are you even privy to that rather specific level of information yet? I'm not sure how far the equipment/weapon designers are along, nor how much of those details you can actually share with us O.o
(Also, the armor in that pic might be my very FAVORITE yet. Kudos to the guys and gals that put that set together!)

Oh, and there's more light armors, too. Because I think rogues kind of got the shaft in Origins when it came to armor progression.
Can I hug you? Also, about the varying dagger lenght you mentioned earlier, just how long can they be? As big as a sword, or less?

DC?
Anyhow, on the subject of axes, I used them a couple times but in the end all my DW rogues ended up with sword+dagger. The fact that the only model that didn't suck was the Ash Warrior Axe (and Dal'Thanu, I suppose) didn't help.

Oh wait, I just know axes are going to be restricted to two handers now. Maces being for sword and boarders. /speculation.
I don't think that will be the case, seeing as they can use the same animations for one-handed axes and maces.
