I hope they're more like halflings--aboriginal halflings. I just find the idea of Qunari soldiers having to deal with lots of curious tiny high-energy people to be hilarious, especially if they talk like Yoda.

"How you get so big eating food of this kind?"

I can also see their "conversion" to the Qun going something like this:

Qunari soldier: "We have this philosophy, and we're here to convert you . . ."
Fex: "Sure!"
Qunari soldier: "What?"
Fex: "Sure, convert away! We love philosophy!"
Qunari soldier #2: "That was . . . a lot easier than I expected."
Fex: "I am totally Qun!"
Qunari soldier: "I think we're going to regret this."

WANT!

As for draconian I don't see them happening because of the whole Dragon Age being special & unique, if they had dragon people dragons don't look as special.

i'd like to see a draconian like race (minus the wings if they're too much trouble to implement):

The Qunari are basically dragon-people now. The devs have even said the redesign was intentionally dragon-like iirc.

Ugh, I hope not. I picked up Dragon Age because it was supposed to be dark fantasy inspired by the likes of George R.R. Martin. I think the franchise can do without furry fanservice.

Well, that and that Gaider has stated dislike of anthropomorphic races IIRC.

i still would prefer this to a dragon like race

"they're an organic sentient species, but with a outer crystal shell or skin making them golem-like (not actually golems)

for their religion they have a giant crystal core at the center of their city, worshiping it.
this crystal could be a simbiot to these creatures, so all their culture (looks, architecture, commerce, etc) would be related to this crystal.

and their society would be restricted to their environment due to their symbiotic nature with the core crystal.

i can imagine their city being similar to orzammar but with a crystal theme instead of just rock.
and as a community, i think they would be similar to the city elves and dwarves, tough and rough but very close like a family.

It would also be very insular and quite possibly very hidden.  If proximity to the crystal is necessary, then they would not wander far from the "hearth stone".  It would quite literally be the center of their universe.  I can imagine isolated communities, perhaps interlinked by roads that had crystaline veins.  This would allow them to stay connected and possibly communicate with other "tribes"

about their look, more or less like this but with some organic tissue still showing"

Yes, it was supposed to be, but since that didn't happen, they might as well make all races cute and lovable, since it wouldn't make any difference

Hopefully we won't have them. But the first time I heard "Fex" I thought "furries" but I would love aboringonal Halflings

DA doesn't need furry races. They are silly.

I agree. Cat people? Especially sexualized cat people with boobs, teeny waists, and giant hips? Uh, that's okay.

I think it would be even better if they had this sort of edginess about them to where you were never sure if they were pulling your leg or not, as though, to this day, the Qunari aren't certain whether their "conversion" to the Qun is just a collosal joke or them trying to avoid a fight or what.

If the Fex were conquered by the qunari, would the retain their racial name? I thought that one a group converted and followed the qun, they would only identify themselves as qunari, regardless of how outsiders saw them.

I've always liked Halflings with an edge to their personality, I view them as capricious & wily.

Think about it as a nationality & not a race, the Qunari (race) are Qunari (nation) & the Fex (race) are Qunari (nation) but than doesn't mean that a Fex (race) are Qunari (race)

Everyone seems to see Fex and think >> Furries??

I thought it sounded like an insectile race. Like fly-people!

I did find it amusing in DA:O and Awakenings that you can wind up with some misunderstandings with Sten and Armaas based on the fact that to everyone in the south, "Qunari" = race, but to the Qunari themselves, "Qunari"=their ideology.

"So what are they then, enormous dwarves with comical accents?"

Good analogy!  However, I could have sworn there was a dev post or a codex that said qunari converts only think of themselves as qunari.  I guess I imagined it.

They weren't named Qunari before the Qun, they were named something else that they now have lost due to it being superfluous. They'd see no need to have any more difference. Or I could be misremembering horribly.

Humans on the other hand would.

The fact that they think of themselves a certain way doesn't mean that other people won't feel a need for a descriptive term just for them.  This is more a quirk of language than anything--in the Qunari tongue, the connotations may be such that you can freely refer to people as "Qunari" without assigning them a certain physical morphology.  It's like how (I think) an Italian would never say "So and so has a mustache", they'd specify *type* of mustache.  An actual Italian may correct me on that, but you get the idea.

And Sten refers to Qun-following elves as "elves" when he's speaking Common, so it's quite likely just a translation issue, and as a fluent bi-lingual Sten's probably aware of the deficiency, it's just that referring to Tal-Vashoth as "Qunari" got his goat (just as calling him a "Qunari" gets Armaas' goat) just as, to an Objectivist, calling Ayn Rand a "Libertarian" is certain to get up their shorts even if they know you don't really know what you're talking about.

I hope the Fex are unique but still retain that human figure. I dont like animals made humans I prefer humans made animals or whatever they want the Fex to look like, personaly I would like a race with those shiny dots like in Avatar.
