I am beginning to suspect you've got it covered ;) My son is always the rottenest person he can be in these games, except for some reason could bring himself to be a jerk in Jade Empire........... go figure...

I'm pleasantly surprised this isn't the kind of rant I thought it would be.

Please, continue.

I think you'll be satisfied with how much of a jerk you can be in DA2.

I saw a scene yesterday that was really, really cool. My only complaint afterwards - probably less than 5% of the players will ever see it because it pretty much involves being the biggest jerk ever.

Lol! There were some good ones like that in DA:O, too. Thank God for you tube, is all I can say. Someone will play that, and then I won't have to make my somach hurt trying to do it. ;)

Heh. I'm the same way - I can't be a bad guy in these games. In KOTOR, I tried to be Dark Side, but ended up only getting about halfway through before it fizzled out.

Renegade in ME/ME2 was always easier, somehow. I didn't feel like I was being evil so much as a big, efficient jerk. And that, I was okay with.

But yes. There are opportunities aplenty to be a total prat in DA2.

Hold on just minute! Insult him over who he hangs out with, insult him over the blood smear, but don't EVER insult the Duncan beard! How do you call that thing trimmed anyhow?

Other than that, meh your opinion.

I think it's because Sheps is always a good guy ultimately, but sometimes he just gets tired of dealing with mouthy Krogan and endless red tape.

To be precise, I don't want my Hawke to be evil. I still want him to save Kirkwall. Just that he should be able to be an absolute douche as he does it.

Are these for rivalry path with the companions, or is it more of an equal opportunity prattitude?

Hmm, now I almost want to see what the biggest jerk ever scene is...damn you moral compass, damn you all to hell you damn dirty moral compass! Okay, that really does work better with "apes" instead of "moral compass." Maybe I can work on being more evil between now and the release date...oh, who am I kidding - I'm going to fail miserably at being evil. :P

"I wanna see hauteur from you. Like some filthy peasant got blood on the wheel of your carriage and then had the gall to complain that you ran him over."

Ya, I wanna see the Hawke face of contempt.

This always makes future playthroughs lots of fun. :D My first playthrough is usually going by my own moral compass (and thus mostly neutral good I guess) but being able to change things up for future playthroughs is always appreciated.

A good example would be Mass Effect, I'm going through it again at the moment and still finding the odd dialogue choice (often prattish) that I missed, despite having played it numerous times already. I love that about Bioware games, 'tis a real replay incentive.

My question is can I be a jerk when an epic moment arises that makes sense to my character?

Or is this game more like Mass Effect where you have to have enough of a jerk rating to make certain choices? I understand the game design reason behind it, it adds replay value so that everyone can't do everything, and it sort of forces at least one paragon and one jerk playthrough. But I never did like the system, it made it harder to just make "in the moment choices" that made sense at the time, and forced you to choose jerk choices that didnt' make sense, just so that you'd level up your jerk rating for later choices.

I say that we should just eat cookies, ice cream and/or chocolate to make ourselves feel better if we have to do something mean.

There are definitely some pretty cool moments that you get if you're a nicer person, yeah. And note that other people may not see it as the 'biggest jerk ever' moment - I just couldn't help but think that I would never, ever get that scene.

Sneak in a couple of "renegade interrupts" and all set.
