Hi,

Has anybody ever been able to figure out how to get your dialogue to show up in the journal's conversation history page? I see it's been asked a few times in the past without ever a solution.

I'm not going to worry about it if not, but I don't really see anywhere it could be set, and things like the speaker's character type don't seem to matter.

Doesn't your conversation entry come up in the journal's conversation history automatically? I checked my single player save and a save from jackkel's Scars of War and both have that.

Unless you are referring to something else...

Maybe export your talk table?

Hm, that's probably half the problem, since the savegame file references the lines by their strref. For some reason the TLK doesn't contain any "Exported Conversation Text" entries, and I've even tried exporting the string table and then all the talk tables. Maybe it doesn't like the string range I chose? The exported .dlg files have a tlkstring of "[strref]:[text]", but the strref isn't anywhere in the TLK.

I'll have to mess around with that some more - but I've even noticed lines for some other custom modules, like Alley of Murders, didn't show up in the conversation history either.

Make sure the .dlg files are checked in before exporting the strings. They don't appear in the table otherwise.

Thanks a lot; that was it.

I wonder if that's mentioned anywhere on the wiki, as it could especially be a problem if people ever wanted to do some translations.

Really? The conversation history works now? I need to go check my module...

Oh, and supposedly translations can be done from the string editor when everything is checked in, and then I think you export a foreign talk table. Can't be sure; never tried.

Why don't you write up a page for the wiki and link it here? Or I could, but you figured it out.

I updated the wiki in a few spots. Here are my recent edits for the month if you want to add or change anything.
