The only thing I regreted when I killed him was that I couldn't pull a Lisbeth Salander on him before he died. It would have made everything perfect.

I RP listening to his pitch. He says the alienage will burn if his father learns we killed him. But once he says "the girls stay here" and I see Shianni begging my PC to take her home, that's it. That SoB dies everytime. My other PC's either leave him to rot a while (murdering him is too quick) in Howe's dungeon or freeing him for their vote. Depends on who I plan on making ruler or if i lie to Anora to get her support.

As many have pointed out, it's the "the girls stay here" part of the deal that makes it unacceptable. Well, to be honest my CE didn't even give him a chance to propose the deal, she wasn't walking out of there without killing him. But if I was playing a different more cool headed character, the offer could be acceptable if you could take Shianni and the girls back with you. As it is, there is only one outcome...
Oh, and I always kill him in the dungeon with my other PCs. Once he says "the elves think they're people", yeah, that's it. I do make him give me the key to his chest first.
"Thank your for the money Vaughn. Here, have a shank knife for your troubles."

Rape is terrible, and personal betrayal is bad, but I don't see how it's WORSE than massacring an entire group of people such as the Dalish. I mean, seriously?
Anyhow, I do love murder knifing Vaughn in the dungeons as much as anybody, and rest assured, the CE who made the mistake of taking the deal intends to kill him as soon as he gets another chance.
The whole point of RPing the other option, for me, was to play with a different psychological angle. He's a somewhat selfish rogue who hates living in the alienage and the **** everyone takes there. He does love his family, though. But when faced with the threats against his people, along with the bribe which he figured he could eventually use to help his people, he believed what he WANTED to believe. He thought if he was sneaky, he could get his family out of there in a couple days. He figured if he kills Vaughn outright, there's not even a CHANCE. He, and his family, will be accused of leading an uprising and will be executed, and the alienage burned. But if he could just get them out of there, with that money, they could run off and find a better life.
He regrets it, as of course Vaughn did not hold up his end of the deal, and Howe faked Vaughn's death to justify purging the Alienage, and he himself only escaped by conscription. He spends his time as a Grey Warden regretting his actions, and it will shape who he becomes. I expect he will be my US Warden.
My other CE is female Dual Wielding Warrior and goes all Xena. There were decapitations everywhere. She's a rather angry a bloodthirsty Warrior who does not trust humans, especially men, though secretly harbored an all too brief crush on Dunkan, who was the type of man she'd consider worthy. She kept her ring, though, as she wishes very badly that she could have saved her would-be-husband and could have gotten to know him. I haven't gotten very far with her, ether. I had her seek the Dalish, first, as she always dreamed of meeting them, and is thrilled that they ARE real, and that the Shemlen WERE lying. She's still there, half way through that quest.

That said, I have read that one may take the bribe, hide it somewhere, and recover it later in the game before the Landsmeet. Where is this cashe located? Anyone know?

According to my Prima guide - you have to hide the money outside the estate. Otherwise the guards Vaughan sends after you will take it off you.
I think you can then retrieve it during the "Rescue the Queen" quest. Somone with actual experience of this might have better info.
Edit - there's a pile of rocks just around the first corner as you go into the estate (apparently)
