YA! Lets give all the women of Dragon Age pigtails and pink lip gloss and glitter makeup!! Do it Bioware!!

In all seriousness though, I don't think all the women need to look like super models, in fact some of them should be butch or overly feminized or slightly ugly or strange looking etc etc.. That's one of the things about videogames I've always disliked, that there isn't enough variety in looks.

I agree. There is a lack of variety in the depiction of female characters in the game industry. It needs to change.

There can be variety among beauties. eg, different ethnicity, different style/fashion etc.

That's what I mean though, they shouldn't all be beauties, there should be some mild to average looking women, even ugly women.. Not as LI's, as the point of the romances is idealism, but for general run of the mill NPC's, I say more variety and less femme fatale looks as those literally dominate the female representations in gaming.. Innocent or sultry, innocent or sultry, it's as if there aren't any simply normal women around..

Everyone wants her hair to be long and black again, when from a character standpoint, she should have a chopped off hair cut, background wise..  It changes things up rather than generic hot girl #448423.  Cass looked run of the mill before with the slicked back hairstyle and although it's all subjective preference, I'd rather have a character I'll remember rather than one that looked too familiar to notice.

Bethany suffers from this a LOT imo. She's almost indistinguishable from your average high-school girl, style wise.  I'm waiting for the woman that's missing 3 teeth, has scraggly, disheveled hair and acne scars

Her hair was only shoulder-length, if not an inch or two shorter, to begin with. I don't think anyone is saying she needs long, lustrous, flowing hair. I thought it looked perfect for her character: (relatively) short and free of ornamentation or fanciness, indicating a focused, no-nonsense type of personality. Also, the dark color and slicked back style gave off sort of a dangerous or potentially villainous vibe. I don't think she's necessarily going to be a villain, but it adds to the tension in the interrogation cutscenes, and should definitely make the player wary.

Anyway, I thought there were plenty of less-than-gorgeous women in DAO. Well, faces anyway...everyone's body looked the same but that was a technical limitation and not an aesthetic choice.

Burn off half her face or something.

That'd make her more intimidating/memorable

Imo Cassandra looks *a lot* better with the short white/grayish haircut (as displayed in OP's post). I think the old black haircut made her look quite generic...than again I also liked Jack in ME2 and thought it a travesty when I spotted a thread in the forums that pretty much said BW should've given Jack hair, because the baldness "ruined" her pretty face (they even got some mock-up pictures going in that one. Barf!).

I hope BW keeps that look for the final build.

Hey, I'd think it was pretty interesting if they made a disfigured woman (tiny "beauty" scars don't count) as an important NPC but I doubt most people would see it in the same light I would..

I completely agree, Jack was great as is, bald was perfect.

Well if they don't give her back the slicked hair I hope I can at least put it on my Hawke.

Bioware also seems to go a bit into the Manga direction with their new art style, with the grey hair on young woman.... At least I think they are portraying her young. You don't suspect she's 60+ right?

If she is I really want to know how she takes care of her skin to keep it that smooth :D
I'd say she's gone grey-haired prematurely though, probably by hanging around Hawke. I know hanging around the Warden would've made my hair white as snow.

I think it's supposed to look more like platinum blonde and less like aging grey.

You know...hair can turn white for people under extrem stress or fright. Perhaps it's that ?

...nahh it's probably just dye. Cassandra imo looks to be in her early- to mid-30s. I don't think white hair is "manga", though. Blue and pink hair, coupled with big, round eyes is more like it.

This :wizard:

She looks a lot better imo with the white/silver hair style than her previous style. She actually looks like she means business now Posted Image (and I hope that if there was a chance for her to be a companion and an LI, that she's open to fem hawke too- I'd happily throw money at bioware if they did that lolPosted Image)

You mean the armor cups from Origins? Me too. If they are gone entirely I will not mourn their passing.

Her armour is a tweak/reskin of DAO massive armour so that's not exactly new thing.

In regard to her hair... doesn't DA2 span years? I really hope I don't have the same hairstyle in ten years as I do now. So she might even end up with either style at some point in the game, right?

Also, I like that she looks unique on the silver hair pic. It makes a welcome change to see a tough woman who looks like she could kick your arse, instead of some pretty little thing whose most impressive skills include 'Breasts' and 'Seduction'.

Being unusual can be beautiful in itself. When I first saw Jack and Samara, I thought they'd just looked odd as opposed to the conventionally beautiful Miranda. Now I think that they are two of the most beautiful characters I've ever seen, whilst Miranda (and similar-faced Bethany) blend into the background.

Full gray hair can develop on a person way before 60, we're talking 20+ years.
