Hello all,
The standard problem that I've seen on many posts, but the only solution offered was to reinstall everything.
Well, I've done that, again and again and again.... No luck. I've read the posts everywhere(the lightmapper project also), but reinstalling hasn't worked.
Install Order: Game, Patch 1.04, Toolset (1.01), Python (Python 2.5.4 with the extensions).
OS is XP, SP3.

Is there a place to set the directory so the toolset can find the lightmapper? because the process doesn't start if you get this message.  I've set the right directory to the resourcebuild, the lighmapper command directories etc.

I'm at my wits end basically Posted Image. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Try placing the python25.dll in the lightmapper folder.

Thanks Timelord. I saw that elsewhere as well, had tried it, tried it right now, again no luck. This problem seems to me has to do with the process (lightmapper) not even starting(not the libraries).
I've tried all remedies. Could it be that XP is causing the problem or it is from the toolset side? I don't know really. I don't think reinstalling the OS would solve the problem.

Well, the lightmapper places a lot of files in various temporary folders so you could try running the Toolset as an administrator and see if that helps

Will try right away and let you know. Thanks. Hold on.
Nope didn't work, I run it as administrator (right clicking then run as). Always trying with single player loaded on and without. When you installed the toolset you just followed the wiki steps I assume. Is the OS a factor here at all?

You being an user with admin privileges doesn't matter actually, at least whenever Windows decides it doesn't. Right-click and check the Run as Administrator box and try it.

Btw, what is the error code you get?

Hehe (we typed at the same time) just edited my post above, aye, run as. Did that. Didn't work. There's no actual error code shown in the log window. Is it saved somewhere else?

Basic question - are you lightmapping from the Single Player module?

Edit: No, the error code is usually displayed in the line 'Job submission process failed with ...'

I've tried both cases. Loading the single player module, try to lightmap a custom level,
or loading my mod trying to lightmap. Still getting the same exact messages:

E: 21:10:15 - Failed to submit lightmap layout [valar16]
E: 21:10:15 - Failed to run 'D:\\\\games\\\\Dragon Age\\\\tools\\\\Lightmapper\\\\EclipseRay.exe LightMapper.py --terse -cpus=2 ....

Edit: Nope, no such line displayed in the log window. Which makes me think it doesn't even start running the python script, to give you any messages.

Unfortunately, I am out of ideas now. One last thing - can you try with a new level (just to make sure it isn't a level problem)?

I've tried it, it's not the level the issue.

Anyways, thanks for all the time and ideas man.

I'm begining to think the problem is XP...

Edit: Well I reinstalled OS, using Vista now, lightmapper is working.

For the other poor souls having trouble:

Indoors areas work fine up to this point:
Copy all the python25.dll and pythoncom25.dll to your lightmapper folder.
Hit "Render Lightmaps" (leave it working don't even open or switch to any other window it will fail), then "Do all Local Posts", then right click "Post Minimap to Local"
no mistakes what so ever.

Using Vista, SP2

I'm wondering if reinstalling XP would work. Anybody using the lightmapper under XP? Thanks.
