Brock, we're looking at 2014 for this PC gameplay footage now. Please stop doing that :P

lol, yeah right. I don't question that you care about these games, but if it came between your salary and your vision of the game, you'd go with the salary in a heart beat. DAO sold more than any other Bioware game, hence greater expectations and pay for DA2. I don't know all that much about you, but I know you aren't insane.

I dunno about that. I would bet I make at least as much as he does, and there are quite a few things I would not do at my job if it meant I had to do something that I disagreed with from a business standpoint.

The DA:2 PC gameplay footage will be the video that plays when you leave the Start Menu in Mass Effect 3 idle for too long.

Crimsontearz... Chrono Trigger ruined you with NG+.

never played it

tho a lot of games have it now....Mass Effect, Darksiders (sort of), Dead Space, Resident Evil and so on.....

DAO needs it too......I just want to know if it will have it or not to prepare myself psychologically

Ah... Chrono Trigger started the idea and everyone else ran with it.  Personally never cared(Not as in I didn't like it or hate it, I just literally did not care about it) for it in RPG's.  That would be one of the very last things I would want locked down, personally.

not me...I believe 1 work playthrough per class/build is enough...after that all I care about are the permutations of the story

NG+ makes the difference for me between replaying the game twice or 10 times

Well, I'm not entirely sure how much he makes, but I imaagine it's at least high in the six figures given the previous game's success, that he is being employed by EA and that Bioware is pretty much the Peyton Manning of the game develepor world at the moment.

Mike, thanks a lot for these great clarifications. One thing I'm curious about is the difficulty level for the demos. I assume it's the DA:O equivalent of Easy? Certainly you wouldn't *need* a lot of pausing/strategy in DA:O at that difficulty either, and if it was faster paced you'd be tempted not to bother.

Yep, tuned to easy.

Anything you can tell us about what difficulty options are planned at this stage? Here's hoping for something a bit more extreme than Nightmare after completing the game in Hard/Nightmare :)

No info at this point, no. Sorry.

Waaahaha...well, given how many other games are coming out early next year at abou the same time as DA2 (Dead Space 2, The Witcher 2, Crysis 2, Shogun 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Portal 2, KillZone 3) they can go ahead and delay it a bit for all I care.

I mean, the January-March window is insanely clogged up. Its like how busy Fall 2008 was with releases. Publishers need to space these things out better as my wallet can't repel games of that magnitude!

@Crimzontears: I replayed DA:O enough times to accumulate 180+ hours of combined game time, it didn't have any NG+ features. The only game I really remember playing NG+ in was Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross (for the multiple endings) and that was about it really. I don't see what the big deal is. In a linear game (that is, not a sandbox like Oblivion or Fallout) it makes sense for the game to end when the story ends but if there are branching points for different endings/outcomes as you play then it's worth replaying. That said, not many games these days are worth playing more than once unless there are really differing ways to play through it (like say, in KOTOR the differences between playing light or dark side). I don't think the vast majority of RPG fans need a NG+ feature to convince them to buy the game.

Anyway this thread isn't really aimed at the merits of having NG+ or not so this is all totally off-topic. Gotta love how posters love to slip in their personal agendas and desires into every thread, regardless if it is related to the conversation at hand or not.

@Brockololly: Hey I won't be upset if DA 2 does get pushed back a little (the pessimist in me says all game release dates are pushed back at least once) so long as it doesn't coincide with TOR release.

I know you don't mean it to be, but you have no idea how insulting that is. I can get another job, integrity is a little harder to come by.

Everyone has a price, but everyone has a limit on what that price can get you and that amount is different for everybody. No point in questioning the integrity of his disapproval, keep business business, and our consumer hobbies where they lie. What you are getting into is just ugly business that most who have to deal with it, can not and should not, be dragged into a discussion, specially with consumers, in my opinion.

Mike...you address concerns about difficulty and not my pleas about NG+

I think I died a little inside.....

and Leonia, NG+ is not to convince me to buy it.....but to convince me to play it for over 400 hours like I did with ME1 and 2, better now?

Ah- yes, I forgot about TOR. Yeah, I kind of doubt DA2 will be delayed past March given that EA/BioWare seem to be aiming to release TOR sometime after March. ANd pushing DA2 back would take it out of EA's fiscal year and probably infringe on any marketing deluge they want with TOR. *sigh* I'd so much rather have a KOTOR3 though...

Ouch...  Ya, I completely understand your desire to want it, even if I don't use them.  If you are just wanting the story after a set amount of play-through's, I definitely see the want for it.  Lemon juice on paper cuts...

You have a very painful mind to bring that up on the fly like that. :P

Good! I'm playing it right now, in fact, and being reminded just how much I adore shield bash.

It's almost unseemly.

NG+ is a very sore subject for me.....

I ammassed 400+ hours BOTH in ME1 and 2 because of it...I ammassed perhaps  250 in DAO ONLY because of Warden's keep and the ostagar glitch

without NG+ in DA2 I will only be able to play the game twice or three times which is a damn shame

Shield bash? But what about rogues? Weren't they you're favorite? Wait, does that mean that rogues are worse now since even the developers seem to like the other classes more? Are rogues broken in this game? Rogues are broken in this game, even Laidlaw prefers warriors over his previous favorite. Warriors are overpowered, they are the new Arcane Warrior, we are all doomed, the classes are broken, the rogues stealth no longer works, the warrior is paid attention to more than any other class, the mages are all bugged out since they are not talked about, THE END IS NIGH! BIOWARE IS ABANDONNING THE FANS!

So, PC is going well then? Image IPB

I always enjoyed shield bash in Origins, can't wait to see how much more awesome it has gotten with DA 2. There's just something really satisfying about sending your enemy flying backwards while you charge in and gut them with your sword..

Uhm, and when will we see PC gameplay footage showing off the isometric camera and the layers of strategy it adds over the action orriented console counterpart?

Indeed, I've been purposely avoiding any previews, reviews, or leaked gameplay footage. I want to be vaguely surprised when March rolls around. Sounds good though that warriors are getting some love, everyone was getting a bit panicky once they removed archery and dual-wielding from their arsenal.
