If you are just going around shooting things...thats not an RPG folks!
Just because you character can have some kind of advancement...that doesn't mean it is an RPG!
...otherwise every freckin game would be an RPG...and they aren't...

Going around shooting thing indeed does NOT an RPG make.
However, New Vegas is an RPG, because of the other stuff that it has that other games do not.
I'd argue it's more of an RPG than Dragon Age is. And way more of an RPG than Fallout 3 is, just so you understand my standpoint.
RPG is a lot about choice, consequences and equally valid paths. New Vegas is full of these, even if Gamebryo weakens it a bit.

Yes, just going around shooting things in New Vegas clearly defines RPG. Why? Because you have the choice to ignore most dialogue or other alternative skills and roleplay a trigger happy courier.

Plus, you can complete the game without killing anyone like some dude on another forum proved.
I could never do that. The temptation to blow somebody away is too great.

Still, it's awsome knocking a deathclaw out cold by shooting a bean bag at there face from your boomstick

2nd place:Fallout: New Vegas
3rd:Alpha Protocol
I refuse to buy The Dragon Knight Saga because I already paid full price for Divinity II:Ego Draconis back in 2009. It's a good game but it has a couple of problems, specifically the quests are sometimes too vague and the difficulty is unbalanced. When you start the game it's insanely difficult but by the time you're at the end everything is a joke.
I've just played a little bit of the expansion so far but I like it.
Fable III is pretty good but since Peter Molyneux declared it as not being an RPG, I'm going to have to take his word.
Gothic 4 SUCKED.
Haven't played the others.
