Concerns and things you don't like in DA2

In general I don't really care about graphics and animations, so as long as the game is not too boring to play and the landscapes offer a bit of variety it'll be all right. It would be nice though if there were no ridiculous poses for the characters.
Something that didn't annoy me too much at first was the voiced PC, but yesterday after not having played a game with a voiced PC since mass effect 2 was released, I tried to replay it and it was really irritating, every line was spoken with a different tone than what I thought it should have been, and conversations have a much slower rhythm. I guess that in time I could get used to it again, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing.
Another thing that worries me is how will this 10 year thing work and how it will affect linearity and the pace of the game. I hope they don't intend to sacrifice gameplay for the sake of the story.
About combat... I'm worried, but I don't think I know enough to comment on that.
I also fear that the game will have even less puzzles/moments where you have to think than it's predecessor.

things that I don't like: not being able to initiate conversations with my companions whenever I want to, not being able to change my companion's outfits, restrictions for the classes.
Is that true, that you can't talk to companions whenever you want? If it is, then I have completely missed that information.
Do you have a link where this is confirmed?

Then Hawke's Mom acts like Kelly Chambers in Mass Effect 2 and tells you when you've received a letter from your companions and they want to see you, so you can go to them when they have something important to discuss. I haven't read anything that gives me the impression it's something else.
There's just no camp.
Or do you mean talk to them while they're in your party and you're adventuring? I'm not sure about that bit. I don't think I'd mind it too much, when they're out in the world they've got work to do, in hindsight flirting with Morrigan on the road to Lothering next to some bandits and a dead Templar was very silly indeed.

Truth be told, I really liked talking with companions on the road. I'm kind of peeved they took that out. They took it out, didn't they? I believe Gaider said as much.

I don't think it is right. Its not the Awakenings system.

That's what I thought I read. Don't take my word for it.
Edit: It doesn't help that I can't even remember where and when I read it, but that's what I thought How I ended up thinking it I can't even recall.

If i recall right DA2 is going to get some hybrid between DAO and Awakening systems, but there's no details regarding it revealed so far.Morroian wrote...

As I understand it, there is the option to talk to NPCs on the road, but it is via the Awakening system, so you can only speak re: objects in the environment but it apparently generalizes to more than one party NPC like it did in DA:O.

1) The loss of the overhead camera. As a PC player I found that angle the most useful.
2) Static companion armor If I want to change the armor of a companion to something more realistic looking or something I like better. I should be able to.
3) The stream lining of classes. We have little information about this right now so there is hope the revised classes are better but so far I have concerns
4) The new art style. I'm not impressed with what I have seen. But then again we haven't seen a lot yet.
5) The new combat style. A lot of flash, very fast combat maybe a little too fast
I'm not concerned about
1) Voiced PC. It really doesn't matter to me.
2) Dialogue wheel. It's just a slight variation on what we have in DAO (or maybe I'm used to it from ME2) so for me no big deal
3) Human only PC. I tend to prefer to play as a human. And Bioware has said there is a story reason for the change so I will trust them on this because they write good stories.
But at the end of the day these are just concerns and not judgments because the game is not out yet. And to be fair I won't judge the game until I have it in my hand.

Pretty much- or thats my impression of it thus far. BUt they haven't been clear on it other than to say its a mix of Origins and Awakening. I'm thinking that they'll initiate conversations more and probably when they're at specific locations in Kirkwall there will be dialogue zones or something where you can click on them to chat, but not out on the road.
But I think the whole framed narrative functions to pace out the dialogue better so you can't run through it like you could in Origins.

Well lets just use BioWare as an example.
They were up front about ME being developed for consoles and that after the PC version was going to be a port. Up front about DA:O originally being developed for PC and that hte console version was a port. Anyone with experiance in those ported versions know how bad that turned out.
Now have made it clear all the versions are being worked on alongside each other. Why should I believe that is not true?

Uhm, not exactly.
They said that Mass Effect was going to be XBOX 360 only. What precedence did I have for BioWare to believe them?
KotOR was originally a PC game that quickly was changed to be a PC and XBOX game, and the PC version shipped late.
Jade Empire was an XBOX only game... a PC version appeared years later.
Mass Effect was going to be an XBOX 360 only game. Up to release day that was the official line. I bought a 360 to get that game, and pretty much to get that game alone (though I was interested in Dead Rising at the time - I didn't buy it until years later, used.)
6 months later, ME1 was released on PC.
I kind of figured that ME would eventually hit the PC, but I thought it'd be like Jade Empire - years later.
I would not have bought the XBOX 360 had I known that ME would have been a PC release even a year later.
And I'm still a little sore about it.
So, you'll forgive me if I'm not going to take them completely at face value on this.

I've never seen a dev state that a game will not be a port and then found out it was a port. Granted I have never followed games development as closely as I do with BioWare, but still.
Why would they lie about it? If it came out that it was a lie it would only harm their reputation.

I thought the ME PC port was fine actually, the interface was wonky a bit but that was true of the original, you can't expect miracles. A lot of the textures looked ace though... it was a 360 game though, of course. ME2... it was clearly a 360 game as well... textures were pretty bad often times, and the interface could have been more PC-like.
In the end both were functional and the best versions of the game, certainly, but I think what you are missing is this subtle difference: a good port is not a 360 game without any flaws on the PC, a good port is a game that feels like a PC game on the PC.

I wanted to amend my post a little to add that those games were handed to a third party to handle the porting and that DA2 is being done inhouse.
I would also be in the same boat if I bought a Xbox too.

Well I guess it again comes down to what the devs are saying and if you want to take it at face value (with a grain of salt as I do) or just not believe them. They have repeatedly stated that they are working towards making each version play to the strengths of each platform.

I really dislike the little icon on the dialog wheel. I would much prefer ME's dialog wheel with only branches and no icons or graphics. Why do we need little cues and instructions? Shouldn't the abbreviated dialog branches be clear enough to indicate their approach?
ME effectively did have the equivalent of icons. They had Paragon, Renegade or neutral decisions. When you cut back 20 (or more) words into 2 or 3 some meaning is going to be lost. With the icons there to help out you will at least have the general gist of what your character will say.
