yeah, i guess KotOR counts, but that game was another that was PC and only got a port to console. it was structured badly for play on a console, and i wouldnt have wanted to play it that way even if i got the opportunity.

KOTOR came out four months earlier on the Xbox, the PC version was the port. Its interface wasn't ideally suited to PC controls either, it seemed that all they did was add a mouse pointer - no quickslots and instead you have tediously click on the up and down arrow to change abilities.

Someone already said it, it's a preference to Jade Empire, which does feel a lot like Bioware's hombrew project. Plus ... KOTOR counts ?;)

Which makes it clear that he either isn't an OLD fan of Bioware, or an old FAN of Bioware.

They've made like ten games in all... it isn't that hard to remember.

like i said. no need to be an [donkey]. and you should get your facts strait. just because you dont recognize me does not mean that i havent been around here for years.

Maybe you should have been paying attention for all those years. And my facts would still be straight: you're still old, just not a fan.

Anyway, I'm just being an a's's to you because you were an ass to someone else in the first place. You apparently caught on quickly that it isn't fun when someone treats you that way, so my work is done.

did it come out on xbox first? it's been so long i dont quite remember. true there were no quick slots but that game just seemed badly designed for playing on a console. it's an option selection system in pseudo real time. if they really designed it for the xbox first then i am sorry to say it, but bioware made some pretty poor design choices.

i wasnt being impolite to anyone, smart guy. go and readjust your sarcasm meter, because i wasnt using any in the first post.

"friend" meant friend, not "sarcast representation of idiot." and i didnt call anyone any names. get off your high horse. you're just being an [donkey] and it's not appreciated.

in all seriousness, cut this out or im reporting your posts.

Yep, Xbox first - 15 July 2003 (US), 12 September (EU). The PC version was released on 19 November (US) and 5 December (EU).

well i'll be. well in that case i think they would have been much better off using a design like there was in one of the MMOs or maybe FFXII. probably like what's on FFXII. that game was much better suited for console play than KotOR. seriously, im a little disappointed. that was a bad design direction for bioware to take. KotOR was much better suited to play with a mouse for action selection.

I would disagree, after (in time) the beautiful and functional BG interface, KotOR interface looked and worked like as if I tried to play the game on a Nokia phone.

Report me if it makes you feel better. I could care less. You were clearly the first to call names (and you continue). Not that I care.

In your first post you stated that Bioware is a computer gaming company. This is true! They are also a cosole gaming company, as much you and I don't like it. And they are most specifically an electronic game company. As an old fan, you know this. So why the patronizing "friend" and then misinformation?

Anyway, I'll take you at your word. You didn't mean it as a snide response. I'm sorry I hurt your feelings.

Either way,

There was no *port* for Kotor, they were developed simultaneously. The PC version did get delayed to squash bugs so everyone who wasn’t there later assumed it was a port.

I thought you meant that the KotOR interface was better suited for the PC than for a console.
Actually we could agree, cause I can't say anything about the console, but the PC controles were terrible for me.
Are you saying they are even worse for a console?
That could make us agree.:innocent:

i thought NWN had a control scheme that was much better than KotOR, but imagine having that PC control scheme but without being able to point-and-click at the things you wanted to interact with or the actions you wanted to take. it was just awkward and unpleasant on the console.

Yeah, forgot about NWN was in between BG and KotOR, but NWN also had a superior interface compared to KotOR.

KotOR did have a difficult control scheme. But I think every Bioware game made for computer with no console port intended controls a bunch better.

BG
NWN
vs.
KotOR
JE

It seems like every game that had gotten mixed up in consoles is a bit less fluid to handle.

Of course, that is just my opinion.
On topic, I doubt that DA:0 will suffer from this since the console port was a relatively late thing in terms of the total development time.

Ah, I didn't know that since I didn't follow its development. Anyway, it certainly felt like a port and they should done a better job adapting the interface and controls to mouse and keyboard.

Wow this thread's really got away from its starting point.

To add to the Kotor discussion, PC controls weren't the greatest for a Bioware RPG. They weren't terrible, and you could customize it to your wants/needs. Not sure about the port discussion, all I know is they put in a enough time to make it a PC game that's still playable.

You know what would be really great? If people stopped getting all worked up about consoles and PCs. That would be pretty awesome, don't you think?

It's one extra piece that's meant for the toolset. Not that big a deal. BioWare isn't suddenly favoring either console or PC.
