I've noticed Bioware has not shown any interest in 3D glasses, etc.   There has been zero support for 3D for any of their games.

Given the nature of grand adventure and epic storytelling in their games, you would think they would embrace an additional layer of technology that would increase immersion.

I really hope Bioware patches Mass Effect & Dragon Age making them totally 3D ready with cursors, cross hairs and 2D images rendering correctly in 3D.

I also hope Mass Effect 3 & Dragon Age II will be 3D-ready.

This is all that needs to be done for Bioware games to be 3D ready:

* Allow the cross hair to be toggled on/off
* Provide 3D based cross hair, if jnot just let us turn it off.
* Provide 3D based mouse cursor, Civilization 5 did it.
* Instead of using 2D textual billboards use 3D ones.
* Allow special effects to be toggled on/off

Maybe it's just me thinking this but I think that since it's such a minor group that catering to it wouldn't yield anything in return, they might as well not do it. People with 3D TVs won't skip over the game because it doesn't support 3D.

You're off topic, imo. This has nothing to do with DA2

The market for 3D is a little ahead of the tech right now. There's one company making practical 3D without glasses (but it only works if you're view it from a very specific angle) and another company making real breakthroughs with animated hologroms (ala Princess Leia's 'Help me Obi Wan' message). I imagine in four to ten years we'll start to see something practical that merges these two techs.

To bring this topic round to DA2 (sorta, in my twisted way), how come there were no strippers in DA:O? ME1 and ME2 got strippers. Heck, 3D strippers would be even better! I want 3D mideval strippers in DA2, darnit! Who's with me?!

Stereoscopy is a gimmick, plain and simple.

not only is it a waste of money, development time and hardware resources but also the "technology" cannot be improved or become more advanced. Stereoscopy in the gaming industry is used as a commercial stunt.

I tried some of this fancy 3D glasses tech at a Eurogamer presentation, it far from impressed me. In fact I found the effects underwhelming (even for 3D) and it gave me a headache. I just wish it would go away at this point, it's having a far from positive effect on cinema and I can't see it doing any more good in the games industry.

Contrary to what the mainstream wants to think, 3D technology isn't quite.. great yet. Can't think of the right word. The technology is still quite young and new, like an infant. Remember when DVDs first came out? Or CDs? It will take awhile for it to really catch on and be widely used. The 3DS hasn't even taken off yet and that's the next "big" thing. Baby steps people. We're not really in the age of 3D video games. Yet.

I'd prefer some really neat virtual reality. Though it feels like that won't come out until I've retired and is a grumpy old granny whose hobby is to whack brats across the skins with my cane.

I don't know much about the latest 3D, is it like the 3D in the 80's? Where only people with perfect 20/20 vision could actually see it?

3D is annoying me currently. Whenever I enter a tech store they're always trying to throw me that "oh 3D is so great you should totally get into it" my friend bought a 3D TV and only two pairs of glasses, there was six of them in the house. Enough said.

The only way I'll get into 3D is when you don't need glasses. Until then I'll pass.

The current trend of motion gaming is a big step forward to a more fulfilling VR experience than the previous VR fad accomplished. Once the motion tracking is refined well enough, it will be elementary to incorporate it into a new kind of VR tech. You can already find videos of Wii's being hacked to track motion in reverse. In other words, instead of the camera pointing at you, it points away from you. Add another screen for the VR participant to look at which is slaved to the primary outward facing camera, and programmed with software akin to that which was used to film Avatar, and presto, a next generation VR experience you have. Of course that is much easier said than done. I believe there is something along those lines being tested by the American military as a training instrument, though.

Pointless or not, I'd suspect it falls under "diminishing returns". And by diminishing I mean "approaching negative infinity".
Everything is optional. And most of the options are just plain not worth the hassle.

errmm, it's better than you'd think. recently they have used holograpic display/volumemeric display has been around for some time now.

the only problem is that Stereoscopy is the only "3D" that can be applied to the home and commercial industry insted of scientific university laboratories.

Even if they ever consider making games in 3d, which means you need to use glasses. I'd like this function to be additional. Unfortunately my eyesight doesn't allow me to see the 3d picture.
