Wynne - will she attack me if I destroy Andraste's Ashes? Or just leave.
I'm playing a Cousland who is bitter about Howe's betrayal, will be bitter about Zathrian's betrayal, believes the chantry does more harm than good, and otherwise will do what needs to be done to get his army (side w Branka, destroy the circle tower "accidentally" if there is another Wynne killing scene - otherwise she dies in front of Cullen.)
Interestingly despite his disdain for betrayal, be does decide to side with Bhelen to improve relations with the surface. But this also is because my cunning Cousland's goal is the throne.

Does their gear drop after I kill them or need I strip them first? I'd rather fight them fairly but I do not give up gear.

Edit: Pretty sure you can loot the gear back.

Doesn't the Guardian also join in on the fight if the ashes are defiled? So it'd be 3 against you and your non-offended party member.

Plus two ash wraiths.
Not that I've defiled the ashes, but I read on the wiki that it's the Guardian accompanied by two ash wraiths.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to save it for late in the game when I'm untouchable. I'm playing a rogue so I'm not sure I can do it. But I know I could do it with my S&S Warrior Templar/Champion. Not even Gaxgang could hurt that guy.
And only this character is a heartless. I've made him the worst kind of monster . . . a mesh between Bailan's cunning and Loghain's prejudices.
My canon character is a "redeemer", though. If a person is evil he kills them, but if he sees that they just made a few wrong turns he helps get them back on track.

Another way you can be heartless is to get the companions to -100 hostile, convince them you'll do better, and then get to hostile yet again to add insult to the injury. Pretty sure you can kill them when they try to abandon you. (I've only killed Oghren and Zevran this way -- didn't try it out on Leliana or Wynne since I lost them via other means. So don't hold me to it. =p)

If Morrigan is the other party member, you may be able to pull it off with her crowd control or force field to immobilize a party member. Even better if she can toss up some heals. If your rogue can summon pets, then you've got an extra member. Zjarcal is right about the wraithes -- I had forgotten about them. The Guardian cons orange and the wraithes should be yellow. You could just kill Wynne at the circle tower if the Guardian encounter proves to be too much.
I've found Morrigan to be the key to many a battle. High magic with Blood magic. I typically go Mind Blast, 3rd Blood CC spell, Mass Paralysis, then back up and huck a fireball. Rinse repeat. This should take out Wynne and Lelianna no problem. The Wraiths will be immune to Blood Magic, so one of them is getting regular paralyze and one is getting crushing prison. My main can handle the Guardian.
If I can't pull off the battle . . . it'll be a long reload back to the tower. But the challenge intrigues me.
Edit: The reason I assume my main can handle The Guardian is any time an Orange Boss has yellow minions it usually means Orangey is not as tough as, say, Gaxgang or Flemeth.

My party when I did it -- rogue warden, Alistair, Leliana, Wynne. I play on nightmare. It wasn't an easy fight, but not nearly impossible. just make sure you kill Wynne first.

She defiled the ashes because she didn't want the chantry to grow any more powerful. She did NOT expect her lover and her mentor to turn on her.

Wynne doesn't get up again to give you a good finger wagging, either. Very disappointing.

Yeah. What happens if you import a warden who does that into Awakening?

Alas, Oghren is still there. Apparently he was badly injured and left for dead, but got better.

She can die in Origins, yet there she is yelling at you in Amaranthine.

So I did it. My rogue and Morrigan versus Wynne, Lelianna, the Guardian, and 2 wraiths. Everyone was fully geared.
I won so easily it was stupid. I'm not saying "I'm so great." I'm saying anyone can do it if they can handle the Guardian normally.
Mind Blast then Blood Magic on Lel/Wyne, Forcefield on Guardian, Cone of Cold on Wraiths. My rogue cleaned up the frozen Wraiths, Morrigan blew up Lel and Wynne with lightning bolt and arcane bolt. Then the Guardian un-forcefielded and my rogue cut him to shreds. I suspect I could've done it with Morrigan alone. We were level 17 I think.
FYI: you do NOT get most of Leliana and Wynne's gear back - just rings and necklaces. So I did reload and did it again with them stripped nekked. But only after I proved I could take them first.
