I'd usually wait until I finished the module to discuss what I found, but I'm at a minor roadblock. (Sub-optimal character choice.)
So I'll just mention a few things I noticed:
+ The edited OC areas are wonderful at depicting immediately post-Blight Denerim. Good job!
+ Combat is justified through the story, rather than just random fights.
+ Minor gameplay variety (Fade sense early on, the interrogation of the dwarf merchant, items in the Alienage.)
+ I was a bit put off by the slideshow conversations at first, but most are done very well. (Note: Conrad is in the toolset neutral pose in one background.)
+ While some people may not like Origins decisions being made for them, the decisions actually fit with the story being told here.
+ Interesting boss and set-piece encounters
+ Well-crafted ambiance
- One or two typos (one in the scene with Conrad and the riot.)
- Tranquil cannot cast spells, and are technically no longer mages. (90% of the dialogue is from peasants though, and they might not know any better. The introduction to the tranquil should perhaps make it possible to interpret the healing as spellcasting while he actually uses a lyrium item or something like that, to keep the mild surprise.)
- When healing items are replenished the first time, it seems like all generic weapon items are duplicated. (This may be from Eona's recruitment, so ignore this if it's meant to allow weapon options for Eona.)
Overall, a very good job. I especially liked the custom loading screen and chargen background. (And how did you get 7th level chargen, by the way?)
I'll get back to you for more once I play more...
