Hey does anybody know where I can find an up-to-date Tree Randomizer (Plug In) for patch: 1.23? I looked on the Vault but none of them are being maintained anymore.

I think if you look at ladydesire's plugins pack (can't recall the exact name atm) she's essentially carrying on maintenance of things like: Tani's Water Mill, Terra Coppa, Tree Cutter, and a few others, I think it also inlcudes the Tree Randomizer, but don't quote me on that. I'd answer better, but my desktop is currently sitting very still awaiting a new Hard Drive transplant.

I use the tree randomizer. Pretty sure it's the one ladydesire maintains.

[Taken off the Citadel Forums: Up-To-Date Tree Randomizer?? ]

Just posted this at the Citadel and wanted to have all my ducks in a row for you and anyone else looking for an updated version:

I mentioned in the Official Forums that I thought ladydesires plugin pack had that updated, but it doesn't appear to be the case.  I don't know if TerraCoppa includes a tree randomizer function in it.  There is a plugin function called Replug, that essentially is used to allow older plugins to function after the updates have occurred.  There are also a few tutorials about how to update a plug in on your own and there is one person out there that said all you really had to do was update one file in the code to indicate it was for that version and it should be good to go.
Sadly, I don't know exactly where to find those comments at the moment.  I do think that using RePlug should get you going.  Were you looking at Aokis' Tree Randomizer?
I found this from: Area Camera Plugin (taken up by Ovo)

Do you know you don't have to update your plugins each time you patch Nwn2 ? Read the last section below.
...
.: Running old plugins on any toolset version :
It's feasible since january 2008, it's simple, and it works. See here.
I'll try here to give you better instructions than the ones given by PeeDee :
1/ Download the config file and put it directly into your Nwn2 folder.
2/ Open the file with a text editor. To do so, right-click on it, choose Open with and pick notepad in the list, or if it's not here, click on Choose program... and pick notepad there..
3/ What you get is the code for a tiny XML configuration file. Find in this gibberish the three occurencies of newVersion=.
The first one is the version of the file OEIShared.dll, the second one is for SandBar.dll and the last is for NWN2Toolset.dll. All three files are in your Nwn2 folder too.
4/ Get the versions of these three DLL files. To do so, right-click on them > Choose Properties > Version tab. Copy the number you see (example : 1.0.1588.0).
5/ Replace the version numbers in the NWN2ToolsetLauncher.exe.config file with the ones you just found.
6/ Save. Done !
Important Note : Be aware that using not updated plugins might cause important bugs in the Toolset, as the Toolset is often modified with patches. So :
- If you encounter some bugs in the Toolset, get the updated versions of all your plugins and remove the ones that are not recompiled for the last patch before reporting the issues.
- When you patch the game, if you read in the patch notes that the Toolset has been modified, update your plugins.

So there is a caveat, but for the most part I have not heard of any major issues by anyone doing this (which only means I haven't heard of it, it doesn't imply that anyone has even tried it, so caveat emptor.)
Oh, and hey, look what I found!
Randomize Trees v1.23.1765
Cipher posted this as a link here: Tree Randomizer Plugin: Comments section, second from top
So that's a working and updated Tree Randomizer and it is not loaded on the Vault but does have a link from the vault to it's storage location.
I am going to copy/paste this to your post in the Official Forums as well.
best regards,
dunniteowl

Sometimes even with a randomizer, nearby trees look same.

So for fine tuning you might want to use PowerBar tree randomizer because it allows you to randomize only selected trees and not every tree in the area.

Thank you dunniteowl! As usual you have gone beyond the call of duty. Not only finding me an updated tool but the direction on how to update a plug-in myself. All very cool! Thanks again Dunniteowl. ;D

It's all part of whatever little I can do to 'give back' to this fine Community.

Appreciated the thanks ever so much in any case,

dunniteowl

And thanks Olblach for that other randomizer option, I knew there was another one somewhere...

Sure. When I do, though, I think I'll just post it with more stuff regarding plugins in general. Might as well make it a bulk topical post in the sticky section, yeah?

DNO, it would be nice if there was a sticky specifically for new builders that had links to all plugins that we all find useful, tutorials, and also links to overrides that we all seem to be using and like.

Basically one thread to guide them all...

That's why I said it would take some time to get over to the other section. I was actually thinking of taking a thread topic and making it something of a One Stop Shopping Experience for using the toolset. Tips, hints, tricks, tutorials and plug-ins, all linked in a single comprehensive sticky post. Along with the myriad things I have also to do, it's taking a bit of time. I will do it, though, as I have a pretty good start with a lot of the threads I started years ago over at the Citadel. I just have to verify some links, sanity check against new information and then copy paste, basically.

In the meantime, for those of you willing to dig a bit:

Links of All Kinds Some of its a bit out of date, but it's a great starting point for the nascent and budding toolset user.

One Link to rule them all, One Link to find them,

One Link to bring them all and in the darkness bind them! ;)

I went and put all the good vault projects ( went thru all of them ) in as links in relevant areas of the school as well. Those are the most up to date, but it mainly focuses on the vault offerings, tools, and not the off vault content.
