I know this has been asked plenty of times for the past 5 years, but when??
I remember the good times playing JE on my Xbox but didn't know WTF was going because I was an adolescent kid. I just played, but it was fun.

Is JE up for download on 'Games On Demand' in XBL? I'll be willing to download if it is. If not, guess I have to knock off the dust on the old Xbox :o

It is up for 1.200 MS Points... I'm not sure how well it plays/is compatible as it was a game for the original Xbox.

I've not played it on the original Xbox, but it plays well on the 360, though it lacks widescreen compatibility. I also was a bit confused with the buttons in the beginning/tutorial, since the tutorial refers to buttons of the original Xbox controller and I never owned an Xbox. :) Other than that I don't recall any gamebreaking bugs (I played it a year ago so my memory might not be that good though).

And the answer is the same: some say it's a sleeping project, most say is a completely dead project.
It's not mandatory for game developers to develop sequels (unfortunately sometimes), even when a handful of loyal fans keep asking for it. So we have no way to force Bioware's hand.
Until recently they didn't even allowed petitions (not that it would make a difference). Now they do, but they ignore them :D

Why not see it in a positive way? At least they didn't milk the franchise. :)

I played the disc version of Jade Empire (as well Kotor) hell I even the bonus content of  the LE installed on my Xbox 360  and  it plays and looks just fine.

IIRC the only controller differences is that black and white buttons functions are assigned now to either L1 (or L2) and R1 (or R2) buttons and it only takes a few minutes to get used to.

Well, they actually did, in a way. By that I mean they kept porting it to every platform known to man until 2008 - 3 years after the original release - when it was already dated. Instead they could have spent some extra effort and develop a sequel...

JE is a self-contained story. Not every game needs a sequel...

And not every sequel is worthy. KOTOR is a case in point.

I'd argue that we less need a sequel than a new game using the JE setting.

I fully agree with that. Ancient Chinese/Asian setting that made JE beautiful and unique. As a big fan of JE I am confident in saying that there will not be another JE by BioWare. But it would be hopeful to see that setting again. EA in all its greed and profit seeking has no intrest in anything that can't turn a maximum profit.

Yes they are so evil for seeking to be a profitable and successful company . No profit = no big budget for Bioware do the math.<_<

As far as a JE sequal where would they go with it? Everything in the story was resolved in the original game so any sequal would just contradict everything they have done and repeat it over again. If anything is done with it i'd like to see a modern remake. The game is very dated now and it shows with the poor gameplay and sticky controls. I think they could just do so much more with it nowadays.

At the risk of sounding offensive, it could be that you're lacking imagination/creativity :D
On the contrary, there are so many ideas they could expand upon that it's probably difficult to pick just one.
Read through the old JE forums, and you can easily spend half a day fishing for ideas.

moondog..i have done the math. Subtract creativity, add maximum profits for share holders and you get generic game that appeal to audiences like you. Sounds like you don't even like JE to begin with.

Clearly you are either young naieve or don't understand how a game developer and publisher works. Let me spell it out to you. If a game is successfull and profitable for the publisher then they will be willing to put up more cash for the developer to make games which means better quality games overall.

What do you mean by "generic"? JE is just a copy of KOTOR in an oriental setting anyway so that could be called generic.  Tell me where i said i don't like JE? It's likeable but suffers from aging. The controls are not very good the fighting feels sticky and the voice acting is very poor for the most part. It was a good game in it's day but Bioware is now capable of bigger and better things thanks to the large slice of the budget they get from EA's pot. Hence i said a remake would be a good idea because they could make the game they intended to make while being free of the limits of Microsofts poor management and demands to make games suited mainly to the capabilities of the X Box

Seriously what would you do other than repeat the same story? New bad guy turns up is all powerful. Have to get stronger and stop bad guy. A sequal feels redundant which is probably why it's not on the table.

The Jade Empire is huge, if you look at the map. There's places such as the Phoenix Gate, The Prosperous East. In Jade Empire, it covered parts of the Golden Delta (Two Rivers, Tian's Landing), The Imperial City and the Imperial Castle.

Not to mention that Jade Empire is heavily inspired by Asian history, specifically the Wu Xia fiction, but it doesn't mean that it would have to base it off that entirely. They can use other factors (Mongolian influence, invasion, etc) that could be taken and molded into the Jade Empire universe.

Also, it does not have to be a direct sequel. Most people assume that sequels have to happen straight away or in a short time period (a few years), but it could be in a different time frame.

I prefer the disc version because here in Canada, every fKin disks are in limited editions :D

But the XBLA edition work very well. very fluid and pretty cool. the Fact that those ****ty ''Black'' and ''White'' Buttons are gone repleaced by Lb and Rb make your healing much more easier.

give it a Shot !

Well for those of you interested, the special edition is on Steam for like $15. . . I own the x box version but am tempted to try it out on a PC, because it seems that every game is better on a PC. . . although I am quite concerned about the controls. . .

I don't think Jade Empire would have to revolve around the life of the 'Senior Student' let alone be based in the same area of the empire. As someone previously stated. The Jade Empire is a large are, with more land than was covered in Jade Empire. This, I believe has the possibility for many stories.

(Just throwing my two cents in)
