You have no idea, mate.

And to be on-topic.. I hope we get to see a PC gameplay video some day before 2014.

It doesn't take very much effort to get a dev and have em narrate a few minutes of gameplay footage, upload it to YouTube and call it a day.

Kind of like what BioWare did here:

www.youtube.com/watch

here:

www.youtube.com/watch

here:

www.youtube.com/watch

and here:

www.youtube.com/watch

Keep in mind these were done and shown one year before DA:O was released. No PC demo because consoles are easier to port around? My ass.

awwwwwwwww s***

seriously though, console are easier to carry around? give me a break, Some people will believe everything a Dev says. Also, you dont have to take my words to the extreme and say "so you calling Bioware liers then?" because thats just what companies do. Sometimes you have to read between the lines to find the truth as nobady is just gonna come out and say it.

Keep in mind that Origins was in development for a good 5+ years. Funny how that works out.

Why even be on the forums if you're just going to say "OH IT'S LIES, IT'S ALL LIES! EVERYTHING IS LIES, PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE THEM BELIEVE IN EVERYTHING!"? People can "read between the lines" about everything but the truth of the matter is that consoles are alot easier to ship, set up and use than PCs.

So the fact dev time is shrunk down to barely a year and a half for DA 2 and you expect it to be better than DA:O?

Oh, dear...

Indeed, I can wait until the devs are ready. I'm not making demands. They have a tight schedule to stick to, we're just now hitting the holiday season and March is rapidy approaching.

Did I say that? No. That's a completely different train of thought.

You said they released gameplay a year before the game came out, that means we had to wait 4 years for gameplay to come out. That doesn't compare to the DA2 now, does it?

Didnt take long to get this response. I called it. Look yes consoles are easier to lug around. NOT A LIE.

BUT, that isn't a good enough answer for no PC reviews or demos. Its avoiding the real answer. Maybe the real answer is not "because its a console port" but lighter consoles cannot be the whole story. Get it now?

it could just be a marketing strategy that they are trying to showcase the console version since apparently the DAO console version was underwhelming(didnt play on console), or it could be that that they are just trying to spite all of forumites saying that itll suck/dragon effect/console port, or it could be that it is a console port and suck balls, or it could be the bestest game of all time and they are just holding out on us to make the unveiling all the much sweeter.

who knows, we will find out eventually

Of course they're lying about the PC version. Duh?! I would, too. It's got a seperate development cycle than the console and it's going to be a more robust product than the console version...just like DA:O. So, it makes sense that it is behind the console in development progress, because the PC version will have to do everything the console version can, and have all the little bells and whistles that PC Gamer Master Race (or as I call them, whiners*) need to feel special.

Saying that prior to release will only alienate the console players though, while alienating the PC users has the built in resolution of ultimatly giving them access to what will be regarded as a 'superior' product. Just like DA:O. In the end, the console gamers will be happy to get a game that combines the best of action gaming and narrative RPG's, while the PC's will get all that and the camera, the modding, the controls, and the holier than thow attitude they do do so enjoy.

*Well, most of you aren't whiners....just a couple.

How so? When you've got little to no coverage of the game at all and all information we've recieved of the game as a whole is from the convention demos, that feature consoles, wouldn't it be surprising to find little to know PC info when rarely anybody has played it to preview in the first place?

Like I've said, if the conventions were all about the PC version (should PC be easier to manage), you'd have the same thing but with console people going "oh my god why is there no console previews?".

If you wanna play a quick game - sure, but if you wanna show off multi-million dollar project to an eager auditorium, not so much...

... how so? Almost all conventions tend to use console versions for demonstration purposes.

I think it is a combination of this, and that they make one demo playable. If it isn't a port, making the same demo on PC would take unneeded time that can be used for making the game.

A comparison from outside the game business would be making an unfinished product that can make investors want to pay for it, when the time could be better spent finishing the product.

That and that the tactical camera isn't finished as of yet (at least officially).

I would not worry all that much about the PC version. It is after all more or less the same people that gave us DA:O and that turned out pretty good on the PC, no? l would also suspect (hope) that BioWare learnt what not to do from the feedback received concerning ME2, which was a port in so many ways. I am saying this as a PC gamer, just to clarify.

Why we don’t see any PC related reviews and previews might be a publisher decision, they want the version making the most money on display. COD:Black Ops was for instance reviewed mainly on console. According to a few review sites this was apparently a criterion for reviewing the game at all. They could choose between the console version and NO version to review. Even though this is a different publisher there is no reason not to suspect that they operate and think alike when it concerns marketing strategies.

Yeah, just like DNF.

In regards to the PC not showing up at demos; that's just horse poop.  Saying something like 'consoles are easier to lug around' is fine.  But, to imply that computers are difficult to transport and setup is just dumb.

There have been PC previews, two of which were already linked to in this very thread.

http://www.gamesrada...93233136058/p-3

http://www.1up.com/d...age?cId=3180929

I've pointed this out before but people seem to be willfully ignoring it.

Yes, god forbid PC gamers would want the same features that have been a part of the platform for 10 years.. We are so greedy.. Just like with cars, they should just remove ABS, traction control and air conditioning because those features aren't in gokarts, and to want those in a car = whiner..

We should just accept and approve of the oversimplification of the industry. Because since consoles are so limited, PC's should be as well.. <_<

On topic, iso view being included as it was isn't really a concern for me as ots view was what I mostly used. The over the top look limited my view more than helped it in reality. No depth perception, clunky camera movement, limited range in direction etc.

If they take longer to release a camera that actually does it's job than more power to em, because if they had simply copy and pasted the original DA:O version over I wouldn't care as I wouldn't use it.

Like others however, I really wish they'd release a simple video showing the action on PC as all the console vids I've seen don't showcase tactical pausing/issuing orders at all, and that more than anything, gameplay wise, is what I'm curious about..

Isn't adding more control to the camera but not allowing it to pull out as far still an improvement / trade off? I doubt Dragon Age is ruined forever for the PC crowd because of it. It's also not a port when they focus on all of them equally, just because they aren't FOCUSING EXCLUSIVELY for the PC (ironic considering how perfectly fine the PC crowd finds it when they are the ones being catered) doesn't mean it'll be a port.

I personally think console ports of PC games should spew acid into the face of the console player, and potentially come with a controller studded with spikes (especially on buttons and triggers). Only in this way could console gamers understand the horror and trauma we on the PC endure when we have a slightly non-traditional angle for a game.

Bio did demo a version with the tactical camera for the same German magazine that the OP linked to -- not the article that he linked to, obviously. They may have done this because the earlier article specifically complained about the camera.

I agree with the overall point. Making a demo is work, and the PC version doesn't have as much to prove as the console version does, both because it won't make that much money and because the DAO console version was deficient even by console standards. It's not surprising that Bio's showing the console version.
