What's in the Baldur's Gate II Collector's Edition?  I couldn't find an official source anywhere that lists every single ingredient in the collector's edition of Baldur's Gate II, so I thought this might be one place to look. Oh sure, I found vague descriptions with hints at what was in the box; even some partial lists, but not an exhaustive list of everything in the box. Does anybody have such a list?  If so, please cite your source.

And does anybody have an idea of where one might find a new unopened (still wrapped) collector's edition?

Thank you!

Well, I don't have a list, but I do have the CE itself sitting right here. Let me see:

Spiral bound manual (264 pages)
Cloth map of BG2 gameworld, including an inset of the city of Athkatla
Quick Reference card (spells, keyboard commands, etc)
Black Isle notepad
Set of 16 npc/creature/area cards (1 is a logo card)
4-CD case of the game media
CE bonus disc
Creative EAX speaker advertisement card
PS:T and FO2 advertisement card from Black Isle
Reference and Troubleshooting guide

All packed in a large box with foam insert as padding.

That help? Just typed up while looking at the items, so I guess I'm linking to myself as the source.

Also, moving this out of Tech Support, since it's really just a general question.

If you're 100% sure you didn't take anything out of the box (even the seemingly useless things like the advertisement card), then yes, it does help. Are you sure you left it intact (i.e. you didn't lose anything from the box)?

Yep, entirely sure with one caveat: there might have been some funky registration card back then that I actually mailed in, but I don't remember it if I did as I'm pretty sure that BG2 had an online registration system. Otherwise, I keep everything, which is why I mentioned the advertisement cards.

Why so interested in being very specific about the contents of the box, though, right down to the last bit of scrap? For comparison purposes with a potential purchase?

I should add that the boxes are all numbered out of 62,000, too. :P

Thanks for all that information Kevin. It was very helpful! If anybody else has an answer for the question of whether there was a registration card, please post here!

Does anybody on this forum have an unopened (still wrapped) collector's edition that you might be interested in selling?  It must be undamaged and unopened.

After more than 10 years? That seems a longshot.

In my European CE version og BGII, I have:

1 box with the game cds

1 sleeve eith the bonus content (soundtrack and bonus item)

1 Shadows of Amn postcard

1 card for a game called art of magic

1 English demo Icewind Dale demo disc

1 Baldur's Gate II Shadows of Amn quick reference card

1 Disc AOL free internet trial disc

1 pack of cards (collectible)

1 big poster

1 T-shirt (classic style)

and a registration card that could be mailed to something called Virgin InterActive

The registration card was, in my case, for winning a 'state of the art games pc'.

You would have had to fill out a form with your name, and adress of course and also answer some questions about your gaming habits and your computer and such.

So, at least in my European (UK) CE version of BG2, there was (is) a registration card.

And my CE is not for sale - and it is opened....

So Kevin's version would probably be the US version right? Since the European version has some things that his doesn't.

There's a bit here
http://everything2.c...lectors Edition

A bit more here
http://www.candlekee...ware/bgate2.htm

Or this
http://www.gamefaqs....-amn/faqs/11021

The Bioware archive below has a obsolete link
http://www.bioware.c...2&newsyear=2001

The closest I could find was from the publisher, select the top search result (at least with google) using these words to get to a PDF
BALDUR'S GATE II SHIPS TO RETAIL THIS WEEK

I'm fairly sure the press releases didn't go into detail of registration cards, advertising inserts etc or differences between national versions.

Well, North American, I'd say. I'm in Canada. :wizard:

Strange. The Gamefaqs faq says the Collector's Edition is numbered out of 7000. It must be a different version from Kevin's. The Bioware news archive has a tempting link, but unfortunately the link doesn't work. I would say the version described at candlekeep.com is the same as aries1001's version, but there are some differences: aries1001's version did not have a manual and it also has one less postcard.

Finally, I don't know what to say about the version on everything2.com. It has a paper map, an Icewind Dale rebate coupon, and even a possible catalog for other games. Unless I made a mistake, none of these are in Kevin's version, even though all the other items listed are identical to Kevin's version.

All the information you've posted certainly helps, but I'm still open to any other information that the community can post about the Collector's Edition of this great game (any country).

However, I'm specifically hoping to buy an unopened copy of the US  version (if there's such a thing). If there's just a North American version and not a specifically US  version, then Kevin's post pretty much answers my question completely. Do you know whether there's a US  version or whether there's just a North American version Kevin? If there's just a North American version, do you have a price on yours?  Or is it priceless to you?  I'm sure a moderator would have kept his Collector's Edition in great condition.

If getting an unopened copy's not possible, I can hopefully at least find out what should be in it down to the last scrap so that when I do buy an opened copy, I  can assess its completeness.

No way I'm selling the BG2 CE. Sorry.

The "US version" would be the same as a "NA version". I just have a pet peeve about people lumping Canada in with the US. We're bigger, baby.

The 7000 numbering is likely for an International/European CE while the 62000 numbering is for the NA CE. That would make sense, since they are different versions.
