Last level of the tower, figthing the Ogre before lighting the beacon: 3 guys in melee,  the mage is behind just blastin with spells.

The Ogre gets so pissed at the Mage he starts going for him, Mage freaks out and starts running in circles around the three other guys who switch to missile and start peppering the frenzied Ogre.

I'm telling you,  you have to close your eyes and visualize it, it was both retarted and funny as hell. That would be a funny scene if they made a movie.

And kids, thats how the hero of the 5th Blight defeated the great Ogre of the Tower of Ishal, mmmm.... im not sure that's gonna make it into the ballads.

Well, as one of the loading screens say,

"History won't care how dramatic your failed frontal assault looked"

Kiting is one of the most overused tactics on some MMOs, namely WoW.

Ah, young gamers are so adorable. It's not like kiting has been around since 1999 or anything... MMOs began with WoW! Blizzard also invented gnomes, gold, and the internet.

lol yep this is how I beat the mage tower boss as well; big open arena + one big boss who's got a major grudge against your mage = a rather bizarre interpretation of benny hill XP

WoW is the most renowned example of them all. I won't be surprised if there are people who never heard of UO.

UO?  When does that come out?

Honestly, I'm sure this is how a lot of historical figures were really killed.

Like Rasputin. The only way anyone could kill that man once he had his laser eyes fired up was to run around the room like a frightened sissy chicken while everyone else pumped him full of lead.

With the human rogue, I didn't mind kiting that Ogre. I enjoyed the image of the rogue leaping and bounding about the room, always narrowly ducking out of the way of the ogre's grasping hands, while the mage threw spells and Alistair fired a bow we'd picked up along the way.

The dog, well, he just ran around too.

The Novel "Dragonsbane" from Barbara Hambly had a funny story like that;the ballads say the knight rode his horse through the field after kissing his princess goodbye and slew the dragon with his sword. The real story was more like, he snuck in with harpoons that were poisoned by his witch girlfriend and killed it while it slept.

I think that's the same thing i did the first time i downed that ogre, second time i had Alistair just tank him, and he ended up making a killing blow, was cool to see as it was the first time i saw one.

At least Benny Hill and the ogre are in the same weight-class, and about equally talented comedians. ;)

Paralyze, Dirty Fighting and Horror work on them too.  You dont have access to all those at Ishal, but by the time you see Alpha Ogres in the deep roads, theres a million ways to control them.

Bad AI has been the only reason my chars have survived a couple of fights so far (I'm thinking of a Revanant).

In this case I didn't see it as bad A.I. I have no problem imagining that a stupid Ogre just got pissed at my Mage. ;)

Well my heroic level 20 mage to the left managed to pull aggro of the uber melee general in Market District and the guy just wouldn't let go - so for the duration of the whole fight (which took ages me bringing dwarves along) she was running in a big circle with Wynne occasionaly tossing her a heal.

On the bright side - 45 of the dwarves survived :D

Frost or CC works fine with most enemies. While they are frozen hit the with melee and sometimes you instantly kill many with critical hits
