I don't want to romance her, so if she is romance-able, I'd like a toggle.

More sincerely, I like that her giant shoulder pads are not the size of a large tent. If all armor is like that, perhaps I'll actually be able to see... anything at all... during the dialogue cutscenes.

yeah i also really didnt like how aesymetrical all the heavy armor was.

Ohh, so it seems mage condom hats are still in.

Excellent.

She's a mage? It also seems to go pretty far down the back of her head. It's not so much a cowl as a...er...hair...blanket...

I'd think it's part of her uniform or something. Or she's a summoner!

Ahem, she's carrying a sword, so she can't be a mage.

THOSE were not the stupid kind of mage hats. Those were almost tolerable. It was the festive Conehead party hats that were actually Abominations in disguise.

Eh, those hood-like hats never particularly bothered me. As long as the conehead hats don't make a return, I'll be fine with it.

The strange thing is that she doesn't look like a mage to me.

Seeing how in the Rise to Power video she seems to acknowledge Hawke becoming the champion or something to this effect, i'm thinking she may be some crossover between Ser Cauthrien and Grand Cleric of the Chantry. The second-in-command for the city.

Though maybe that's revised templar armour she's wearing --the overall form is similar with the skirt and Andraste symbols-- and she's the knight commander, like others have guessed.

The statues and architecture make sense with Kirkwall's history with slavery and it being built in the name of Andoral, the Old God of Chains. Still, who'd want to see that in a city?

And I don't think that crest on her headband has anything to do with Flemeth's Dragon crescent spire, unless it's an old Tevinter symbol, of course.

I am in love with the architecture, especially the statues.

Obviously I've been playing Final Fantasy for too long. I couldn't tell if the knight was female or male.

Bioware, can we romance her?

Is it really necessary to ask this about every character?

Ha, apologies then (that's the kind of thing I often do, so I should have seen that one), but I don't believe you're the only one asking!

I don't like how many identical things there are in the architecture, it reminds me of looking at the backdrop of Redcliffe or Honnleath and wondering where the mass-production Windmill factory was located.

This actually makes a lot of sense to me if my perceptions of Kirkwall are correct. They said it was sort of like a gulag or a slave Ellis Island in the past. If most of the city was originally built as a slaving facility and then later taken over and turned into a city, it would make sense that a lot of the architecture looks the same since most of the buildings would be repurposed original structures. In this case I would still expect to see different styles scattered around the city and especially in the outlying areas, though. But then again, we don't know what parts of the city we're seeing just yet.

If that's not the case though, and the gulag part is only a small section of the city, then I agree that it probably does look too unified.

I don't see any reason to assume this person will be a party member.
Actually, I don't see any reason to think this "character" is anything more than a gate guard, for that matter.

I think it's safe to assume she's more than a gate guard but I doubt she's a party member.

Hm well that makes sense, maybe I misstated it a bit though, it's not so much the architecture as it is the.. decoration? I'm talking about, for instance, the millions of stone slaves hanging on the sides of pillars covering their faces in sorrow, and all of the "beaks" protruding from the sides of pillars in this new shot. All looking absolutely identical. I mean, I could accept that maybe they just really loved making statues of slaves back in the day, but there should at least be some variation in the cracks in the stone that have accumulated over time, kind of like a fingerprint, but I imagine they will all have all of the same cracks in all of the same places.

edit for reducing redundant redundancy

Ah yeah. Well that's the realities of game making for you I guess. That'd be a big resource expense for a small gain in atmosphere.

They could just make a few variations of it and randomize which ones to put where so that no two identical ones are next to each other should you fancy taking a closer look at them.

It's a problem with those hurlocks all having an identical bloody teardrop coming out of their left eye, too.

I was kind of kidding though, I can't really accept that they loved making that many identical statues of slaves that much. It's a little ridiculous.

You obviously underestimate the Tevinter Imperium's love of naked crying man statues. And birds.
