Gate guards rarely give a champion on the rise a blessing with crowd of onlookers and kneeling knights accompanying them.the_one_54321 wrote...
Actually, I don't see any reason to think this "character" is anything more than a gate guard, for that matter.

I suspect the birds are actually supposed to be stylized dragon snouts and whatnot given the Tevinter love for the dragons. It's more evident on these large golden statues on ground level, they have quite clearly dragon heads and legs.Anarya wrote...
You obviously underestimate the Tevinter Imperium's love of naked crying man statues. And birds.

It's a sequence in Rise to Power trailer, Saibh included image from it earlier in the threadthe_one_54321 wrote...
I hadn't seen that image. More than a gate guard, I suppose.

If those are commoners in the background, I approve of their new clothes.

Ehh it seems to be no different from commoner clothes in DAO. Crotch flaps for the men and the midi dresses with baggy sleeves for females.exoproto wrote...

At least they now have color.

Oh, I thought they were falcons, after Viscount Dumar's family symbol.

Hmm maybe it's mix of both, the wings on the statues are pretty bird-like. But it'd be rather odd to have bird imagery as such persistent part of the old building when the bird-loving viscount only started ruling the city 10 or so years before DA2 happens.Saibh wrote...

I'm pretty sure she won't be a party member in DA2. If she is, that would make what, 5 possible human companions?

As for the art direction.....ehhhh. I'm not really understanding it. When I see a screenshot of DA I know it's DA. I don't know any game that closely resembles it. Adding spikes to everything doesn't make it look more iconic, imo.

All these bars throughout the corridors remind me more of prison appearance-wise. Which is probably the idea.abat223 wrote...
Also the spiky scenery may be to help kill the morale of past slaves, and to make the city look more menacing. It looks like a fortress

Also have you noticed the golden dragon/Pegasus-like statues at the entrance of the gate (seen more clearly in the RtP video trailer)?
Any particular meaning that connects these statues with the history of Kirkwall?

The architecture of Kirkwall reminds me of Antoni Gaudi's designs (a famous Spanish architect 1852-1926),and i love it!

Is it just me, or is this the first thread where everyone is being positive about new information?
It's just a shot of an iron-clad impossing Lady. There's not enough information to have something to tear apart. If more info is revealed about her, the negativism you're craving will undoubtly show up.
