I am getting very excited right now. I have a feeling it's ME-related. The surroundings are very very similar. The armor and gun is ME-esque. Either it's a spin-off or the expansion.



I'm voting for the latter.

Why would they shroud a ME3 announcement in mystery? Everyone knows it's coming...
The image does not grab me as being ME related either, even if the rifle is similar.

Am I the only one not excited for a game potentially based on the brief First Contact War? A much more interesting concept (not just story wise but content wise as well) would have been a game based on the Krogan Rebellions. However, since humans were absent from that particular conflict, I doubt it will get much attention at all.

I just fail to see the appeal in playing yet another game where the humans are once again the heroes fighting off the "evil" aliens.

The mass effect references are seriously mounting up so it seems more likely by the minute that this can very well be a Mass Effect spinoff.



Now if you guys remember the prequel comics to ME2 were about Liara recovering Shep's body and an introduction to cerberus. Now the next comics are supposed to be about a young Illusive Man during the first contact war but these seem awfully disconnected from ME2 and they could very well be an introduction for a prequel.

Seriously, the First Contact War lasted 3 months, consisted of minor skirmishes and virtually no humans died.



The First Contact War would not be an exciting game.

but apparently its a new IP... the gun could just be inspired by Mass effect. or I think it could be a prequel. (the guy looks nothing like Mark Vanderloo) so I thinks its not ME3

I doubt it would be ME3, since ME2 for PS3 isn't out yet. It might be ME2 DLC/expansion, in which case they would definitely want to be secretive to get us excited for it. I mean, look at this thread! The last few pages have been nothing but analyzing a picture and a some bits from a non-Bioware promo vid. Just wait until they show the whole thing. People will go crazy.

Oh, and the gun isn't the only thing that's ME related. The hexagonal patterning on the guy's armor points to Mass Effect, as that feature has been used in several conspicious items.

The armour could easily be an interim stage between conventional earth armour and the advanced armour in the ME universe, but then most sci fi armour looks pretty damn similar.



And again, the rifle could be an early form of the Incisor rifle but it could also be a generic futuristic rifle.



It's clearly hard sci-fi and Bioware developing two franchises like that is illogical. To me that says either ME spin-off (awesome) or a new Shattered Steel game (mechs, so also awesome). Shattered Steel would also fit the 'cold iron' clue.
