probably something mass effect related but hey, I hope for BG III, no matter how unlikely this seems to be the case.

BG III, thats crazy talk, but oh my F-ing God would that be epic.

No, please, PLEASE, not. I want my BG memories to always be the same, memories of a real RPG. I don't want another Bioware RPG getting casualized and, to me, ruined.

Oh hush, I thought Baldur's Gate 1 in 1998 was pretty casual.  The beginning is tougher than DA but it's nothing the average gamer can't overcome.

It's highly unlikely that there will ever be a BG III, especially one being made by Bioware...I think they dropped that ball when advertising DA:O as the "spiritual" successor to BG. If it ever were to come out, it will probably be created by Obsidian with Atari being the publisher..

Mass Effect 3 is logical, but what I would really **** my pants over is KOTOR 3

it's going to be the official teaser trailer for dragon age legends and a mass effect FPS for the Ipad, you heard it here first.

Also, free inflatable swords for the attendants

I hope it is JE2 or some new IP but it'd probably be ME3... which is in no way a bad thing. :)

I would not want to be around here to listen to the shrieks of "RUINED FOREVER!", because no matter how closely they try to emulate BG and BGII, it will never be enough.

pretty much...though they feel pretty dated now, the plot still stands the test of time but i can't go through with it's design and gameplay anymore.

It could be an exact remake of BG1 with Hi-Def Graphics and people would still Complain.

Wasn't something big suppose to come out in Jan 2011 from Mass Effect? or was that already taken by ME2 coming to the PS3?

The same thing for Dragon Age on that Feb 2011 date.

That's just it, everyone wants a recreation of the fond memories they have of the BG series, but it's a case of "You can never go back." Even if the licensing wasn't an issue, the problem is this: everyone's experience is different. What everyone takes from a game, considers most important in a game, is different.
Personally, I'm very conflicted of just the idea of JE2. For me, JE was the perfect game, and its marvelous story overcame defects like button-mashy combat. I certainly wouldn't want to see a KOTOR 2-like hackjob done on my JE hero's story. It's why I'm sort of relieved that DA2 is an entirely different storyline and protagonist.

KotOR2 was handled by Obsidian, not BioWare. I think the game had it's merits, but it was bogged down by many flaws.

In any case, I would love for JE2 to be produced.

Wait... so I'm confused... the announcements are going to be held at the VGA's tomorrow, from what I've read here and on the link... yet the VGA's are scheduled to happen in December?

I'm confused. When exactly is the VGAs taking place on Spike? And are the announcements going to be made at the VGAs?

I want to know because I haven't seen ANYTHING yet for the 2010 VGAs and I would like to watch it for the Bioware announcements, among other things...

I mean, the VGAs aren't THAT bad, are they? They're better than the Scream Awards, at least....

The VGA announcements are tomorrow. Similar to how the Emmy and Oscar nominees are announced early. The announcement...I'm not sure where it'll be. There's no particular program for it, so is it online?

In any case, I think they aren't going to reveal all of the nominees at once, since game announcements will be made all month.

Ahh... ok that makes sense^_^. Thanks for clearing that up. It wasn't properly clear in my opinion that they're doing the announcements along with the nominee announcements.

And no, I don't know if the announcements will be online. As I said, I scoured Spike's website for info, but no dice.

I know, but it doesn't take a change of studio to make a series' sequels go in a completely different direction, and to recharacterize everything that came before. All it takes is a change of writing staff or producers, and it happens in television, movies, and games. As a writing staff changes, so does the vision, even if there's a great, overarching plan. It's natural, though not always welcome if you're a fan of a series that's going through such a change.

Why do so many people want multiplayer/co-op/MMO for every game title? BioWare makes arguably the best single-player RPGs out there, a genre that's an endangered species. They can only stretch resources so far.
Besides, even when NPCs are trying to kill your PC, they're more civil than a lot of human players in MMOs.

KOTOR with ME graphics would rock, but I can't see that being any more than wishful thinking. I'm hoping it's the next ME2 DLC.
