As plausable as that would be, wouldn't the Incisor mean that it's set a bit far ahead, for that? I was under the impression that it was a rather new weapon.

It doesn't really matter.  And to make the first contact war interesting, Bioware would seriously have to rewrite the game's history.  

As it is now, the First Contact war goes like this...

Turians show up, see humans activating relay, destroy human ships, follow one to Shaanxi, bomb the planet into the stone age, human fleet shows up, destroys turian ships, humans and turians gear for war, but the asari step in and a diplomatic solution is reached.

I was just pointing out that it is probably during or after ME2.

The incisor isn't that much of a problem, game companies contradict minor lore all the time, the biggest problem is going to be, of course, the fact that the First Contact war really wasn't much of a war, and has a canonical ending to boot that most ME players know.

You think forgetting when a gun they put in a trailer was put into service is bad?

Look at WoW, Blizzard forgot that the Edrear were the ones that corrupted Sargeras, not the other way around, and so we got Draeni.
