This is the type of DRM that encourages piracy actually. Especially if people game on their laptops. You don't want to have to find an internet connection every time you play a game. Even people who won't pirate may used cracked versions of games if they have either iffy internet connections or cannot be connected all the time, and this type of DRM very much encourages that. And people who are on the fence about pirating may just keep 'forgetting" to buy a legal copy after they have a cracked version.SkyShatterz wrote...

Anyway, it penalizes the legal owners of the game, and does nothing to prevent piracy.
Edit: You will never be able to prevent piracy. There are very talented programmers out there who enjoy the challenge for whatever reason, and they're doing it on their own time. What you can do is put out a quality product so that you encourage people to buy the game, and have DRM be unobtrusive enough that it's not easier to play a pirated game than a legal version.
