If my avatar and signature are any indication its safe to say my views have changed somewhat since then. I can understand why they do what they do and if it wasn't for them in ME2 then humanity and the universe would be a lot worse off - however that doesn't excuse their past actions. What might though is when I read the dossier on Cerberus and found that TIM is a title and its likely that there was a recent power shift in Cerberus and that today's Illusive Man may not be responsible for some of Cerberus's past actions (such as the Pragia facility). But the more recent ones? Akuze, the Rachni, turning a whole pioneer science team into Creepers? The list goes on and after a point you have to draw a line, which is what happened at the end of ME2.
Point blank, with no oversight and the need for TIM to not meet Shepard face to face is really all the evidence you need that they're doing something they shouldn't be. For every good deed they've done you can bet there's at least one shady act they've committed that has hurt humanity. IMO, an organization like Cerberus is needed but it needs oversight like the Council had with SPECTRE. They Council doesn't tell their Spectres how they should do something, they give them their marching orders and the resources needed and that's it, end of story. Miranda was 100% correct when she said that yes our experiments do cross a line but hey, hypocrite, you've crossed lines too during your time as a spectre and even as a marine. The difference is oversight and as long as Cerberus lacks that they will always be a liability.
Does that make them evil? I suppose that's relative. If you're a certain Corporal Toombs or Admiral Kahoku or Jack then hell yes they're evil. If you're Commander Shepard and they helped save your body from the you know who and helped you fight the you know what when the you know who shot you the middle finger when you asked them for help... it really is relative. So yes and no.
They're not evil, just incompetent.
