Cerberus do have a bad rep but I would never trust them. I destroyed the base on my role-playing playthrough since I don't want to give a dodgy coperation collector tech and I agree TIM was a bit...harsh...but I still think people are too mean to him. Especially considering most organisations such as the Alliance are just as worse, just less publically. And he did bring you back to life geez. Don't be so mean to him.

Yeah, the only thing that would change is that Alliance will also be bad (bad bad bad).

And tbh, with Udina being a naughty boy in Inquisition, I won't be surprised if the Alliance turns evil all of a sudden.

Turian Hierarchy ftw.

Cerberus is a fanatical, extremist, and amoral organization that has done horrible things all in the name pf protecting and advancing humanity. Their actions could end up costing humanity a place in the council. Humanity is starting to gain respect and acceptance and Cerberus could destroy that.

I still find it hard to hate them. They allowed Shepard to save the galaxy from yet another threat while the Alliance did nothing. They also seem to treat their employees (Shepard included) better than the Alliance ever did.

Maybe it's because I played ME2 before ME1 that I don't hate Cerberus. I also find it hard to like the Alliance. Still, the Alliance is the closest thing to the good guys and I don't trust Cerberus. TIM is already scary and the last thing I want is for him to have more power. Do not trust TIM or Cerberus.

rma2110 the start of your post was correct, but you left out incompetent. Cerberus clearly view themselves as their namesake; dark guardians of the boundary between life and death, doing whatever is necessary to protect humanity.

But what they actually are is stupid and dangerous, half the ME1 sidequests were you cleaning up their errors. Plus what they did to Jack is unforgivable; even if you say the Illusive Man had nothing to do with it, he still financed cells and deliberately had almost no oversight into how they pursued their goals and is culpable for their actions.

More than anything they haven't realised that what makes humanity distinct from other life is sentience and complex brain functions; aliens with the same qualities are damn near human even if they look different, and should fundamentally have the same rights, protections and value. If Cerberus had a mission to protect sentient life they would just be misguided, but they don't, so instead they are misguided, profoundly stupid racists.

PS even their one successful operation, reviving Shepard, bit them on the ass. No collector base for you TIM.

TIM with a collector base technology is one scary thought. Even my renegade decided to blow the place up rather than let you know who get his hands on it.

I find it hard to think of TIM as incompetent. Maybe he took over Cerberus after ME1? I can se him leading a coup de tate against and incompetent boss.

Why do you find it hard to think of TIM as incompetent? He acts confident, sure, but so would the Cerberus ****s who enslaved the Rachni and authorised the torture of children. Show don't tell, what gives us any belief in the competence of TIM to counteract the evidence of his organisations incompetence.

Plus, TIM has been in control for at least a decade. Jack escaped as a child and TIM was established as a respected Cerberus leader at that time.

Maybe I don't want TIM to be incompetent so he would make a more worthy foe? I think Cerberus might play a big role in ME3 and a smart foe is more fun. Maybe he had good reasons to do what he did. I don't think we know TIM's true goals. Other than being a power hungry narcissist. we don't know much. Is TIM even human? What is up with those eyes?

if i lived in that galaxy i would be in Cerberus 100% if invited to join.

in a dark dark galaxy, with various races competing for supremacy, cerberus needs to exist

due to the way they are run, with large doses of autonomy given to their operatives, certain cells can go rogue and super bad in persuit of advancing humanity. (overlord, jacks abduction)

it really depends on your viewpoint on if they are evil or not, personally i would say theya are NOT evil.

Congrats Encarmine you're a dumb racist.

To clarify, Cerberus are racist and incompetent, and none of their projects has ended well with most being disastrous. As you clearly don't appreciate them based on their results you must appreciate them based on their ideology and that reflects badly on you.

cerberus is bent on human domination, that is in the end neither good for humans (will just cause conflict) or the galaxy as a whole. cooperation is better.

I'm on my second play-through of ME2 and I plan to blow up the collectors base this go-round. (I saved it the first time and I regret it).

This.

Plus intept + Reaper Tech = explosion

I wouldn't trust them with Harbinger's eyelashes.

Yes I know he doesn't have eyelashes...that's sort of the point.

Cerberus kills innocent people and uses unwilling human test subjects in their torture-like experiments.

The only way they could be more evil is if they had a black moustache they could twirl while they tie a woman to train track FOR SCIENCE.

I mean honestly, Cerberus supporters would accept ANYTHING as long as they could get some flimsy 'it helps humanity' excuse no matter matter how many humans die horribly along the way.

Honestly, I have a hard time calling any group "bad." Groups have motivations and act accordingly. I agree with Cerberus' motivations so I would not consider them bad. A Turian would probably consider them bad though. It's a sort of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" type issue.

To elaborate, I'd say I highly disagree with a lot of their methods, but I admire their goals and their firm and stubborn opposition to the Council and their strict, bureaucratic ways.
