Never played ME myself so.. anything that alludes to the lore there is going to beyond my guesswork.

The armor appears ME-ish upon examination when we barely get a clip from the back.
Edmonton studio is working on DA2 and ME2/3.
Austin studio is working on TOR.
Leaves the Montreal studio with nothing to work on, meaning it'll most likely be a Montreal studio project.
Montreal studio is recruiting for MP.
Montreal studio is said to be expanding universes.

We're getting a multiplayer expanded universe of Mass Effect, most likely because:
Dragon Age has no guns.
Those aren't blasters and Bioware probably wouldn't wish to work with LucasArts if they had the choice.

It'll be a prequel because:
Anything set during Mass Effect 1 isn't really much of a war, it's more of Shepard doing stuff.
Anything set during Mass Effect 3 or afterwards would essentially lock down a few events of that game. Better or worse.
Aside from the Battle of the Citadel, the only time humans faught was on Shanxi. The area in the trailer shows a distinct human building pattern. Meaning it's probably a First Contact War game.

All I did was type the hints people had already decoded into Google and put two and two together. I don't know how to translate barcodes into English, heh.

...well that combined with my initial intuition that the hints were pointing to a planet.

On the subject of the cold iron runes in DA, the Wiki says the Cold Iron rune is the Tevinter symbol for "Fade".

I hope so. I feel like I've had every possible argument in the DA:2 forums and have happily moved on to Football Manager 2011 as a source of entertainment. So more new news (on DA:2 or ME3/whatever this is) is definitely welcome.

I hear ya there, I've filled up my free time with mindless questing in the Mines of Moria in LotRO. I am just that bored. Hoping for another DA 2 podcast in the next fortnight or so.
