So, are they really making a multiplayer game ?

Hm, most of you dont like it. But I would buy it, I dunno why but I like the idea and BW games are almost every time great ! So I trust them and hope it will be soemthing good.

Btw is this deffinetly multiplayer ? Or only speculations ?

If it's a multiplayer game I wont be in a rush to buy it. I'm not planning on renewing my Xbox Live membership so it would be stupid of me to purchase a multiplayer game for the Xbox. I'll get it eventually of course, but only when I own a PS3.

Okay I think this is a game that takes place when the Reaper invasion is in full swing. Just a strange theory, I know, but we'll see if it pans out.

If its a CoD type game, but a TPS, with adept powers, it could be pretty cool. It would just be ME2 minus all the talking and exploring.

I just hate the idea of taking a great game that was built as an RPG/shooter and making it something totally different to please the strict shooter fans. They already took a lot of the RPG elements out of ME2 and made it more shooter-like.

But I'm sure they will promote the s*** out of it and lots of people will buy it, it will be cross platform and appeal to a mass audience. So good for EA.

I would perfer a "Ah yes, multiplayer shooter Mass Effect game, we have dismissed that claim." from BioWare.

If this is some sort of a Call of Duty game then I will be giving it a miss. I will wait for Mass Effect 3. To be honest I played Dragon Age 2 at Pax Seattle and I may be giving that a miss as well.

I loved Mass Effect 1, 2 and DA but these new games seem to be aimed at the console hack and slash market. I play Bioware games not for the action but for the story/characters when action overwrites story then I back away.

Some will like it some will not, everyone has preferences. Image IPB

Get a gaming PC instead of a PS3. PC is superior.

If you play them for story/characters then why are you dumping DA2 just because the combat has been improved or as you elitists like to say 'dumbed down'? We know very little about DA2's story but Bioware has never made a really bad story.

As far as the teaser for the announcement goes (which you can find here), the slight bits of CGI movie shown look a lot like the ME2 CGI film, however near the end there is a very (VERY) short blip saying "Look Closer." If you pause the video and go back a bit, you can see a picture of Victor from Fallout: New Vegas. I don't know whether this is referring to an announcement from Obsidian concerning Fallout: new Vegas, or if it's a clue to what Bioware is going to announce.

Personally, I think it's going to be an announcement for Mass Effect 3 because investing in yet another game when they are already invested in the Dragon Age and Mass Effect series just doesn't seem like a sound financial decision to me.

See, it seems to be acceptable to whine, complain and say that 'Bioware is selling it to the shooter crowd' even if someone hasn't even played the game. And gee, before MW2, I'd swear that FPSs used to be respectable genres.

Now THAT, is the best spin off idea I have heard yet, and is a better idea than any prequel.

And seriously, everyone needs to calm down.  A lot of people are panicing over 3 lousy seconds of footage that really did'nt reveal anything.   It could be a dragon age game set in the future for all we know.

I find it amusing that the very idea of Bioware doing a Mass Effect based multiplayer FPS is selling out.

Why is that? Is Bioware barred from doing anything other than RPGs? Can they not use their IPs to do anything else?

It is not like Bioware is turning ME3 into a multiplayer game, or otherwise is no longer doing ME RPGs. They formed a new team for this new project, and it will clearly not impact ME3 in any way shape or form.

In short: Bioware is still doing ME3 just like ME2, and this is an entirely new project set in the same setting, which happens to be of a different genre.

It is unreasonable to conclude that simply having another dev team work on a game of a popular genre  means the studio is selling out. Bioware's RPG teams are still employed and still working on RPGs, including ME3.

Thank you.

I think we can ignore the subliminal messaging aspect of the trailer, as that stuff sorta ties in with the "start playing secret tape" theme of the VGA trailer as a whole (what with the "Play" in the top right, and the screen flicker reminiscent of old VHS playback when they advertise the VGA event at the end).

I would venture that the robot from New Vegas, if that is what that image is, is a hint at a New Vegas DLC announcement at best, and (a blasphemous) red herring at worst. The only parts related to BioWare would be the actual CGI of the scarred protagonist with the crew cut and familiar rifle, and the picture and barcodes a la facebook post. So, I'd drop the video analysis and focus on the other trends like hiring patterns, etc.

That said, I'd hate for the Mass Effect franchise to have an MMO, or a multiplayer shooter. I have no knowledge of BioWare having released games in those genres (please forgive my ignorance if they have), so I'll reserve judgement till I see the game, or at least till the reveal on the 11th of next month. But just on the face of things, a Mass Effect Multiplayer FPS/TPS, after the immersive storyline focused games in existence, is not going to do the series justice. And the timing on this could spell further trouble, for if this venture falls short of expectations it might impact ME 3 both financially, and in terms of general appeal to the casual gamer, let alone fans, interested hangers-on, and the like. I like the series, and want more people to like it so that you can have the support to make more such games in the future.

In short, please don't release an MMO or a Multiplayer FPS/TPS before ME3 if at all possible.

I think I found it;

The pictures with the strange writing on it's been bugging me ever since they posted it, I know I saw it somewhere but just didn't remember where. And now I think I found it, It's the same strange writing that's displayed on the chest pouch of Agent Thorton's medical clothing in the beginning of the game Alpha Protocol.

Image IPB

See the resemblance, my guess is; that BioWare just bought the rights to Alpha Protocol and are making their own version or sequel to Alpha Protocol.

For a start thanks for calling me an Elitist! I feel quiet proud at being 40 and being called one. Image IPB

For a second I never said dumbed down, you did. I do not think shooters are dumb. I just prefer slower games or more traditional RPG games normally. ME and ME2 were a major change for me. I have tried COD etc and I just do not enjoy them.

I was able to play DA2 a couple of times at PAX, being at the front of the line helped. The graphics had improved and the game seemed faster but again it had moved away from the style of RPG game I loved about DA.

Anyway I will keep an eye on the website and see what it shows me.

After seeing the teaser trailer at this site. kotaku.com/5692132/a-glimpse-at-biowares-next-game

And rewatching the old Alpha Protocol trailers. There are AGAIN some resemblances like how they move from scene to scene by using static.

I am almost certain it's the next Alpha Protocol game. Image IPB

EDIT: OMG, if I'm right about this, you guys will owe me big time Image IPB if not I'll look like a total retard... So let's hope I'm right. Image IPB
