Even though Priestly once posted the ME News and Announcements Forum about Dragon Age, I'm supposing this confirms this is ME rela--wait a second. Dammit, he posted this to all the News and Announcement Forums! GAH!

In the DA II tread:

The first two clues (plus a Mass Effect rifle) point to Aequitas, a planet in Mass Effect 2 known for its "Iron Canyons" and a surface temperature of -128.5F (-89C).

It was also the site of a sidemission, N7: Abandoned Mine in which a Reaper indoctrination device turned a research team into husks & abominations.

Here's the description:

Home to the famous Iron Canyons, Aequitas has reddish iron oxide dust (hematite) covering much of its surface and significant blue cobalt deposits that freckle the terrain. Turian explorers have discovered hot springs in the polar ice caps, heated by magma in the planet's crust. In a strange combination of science and hucksterism a small facility exports water from these springs, which is bottled and sold as having medicinal properties. The funds are then used to maintain a research station, which has discovered some fossil evidence that Aequitas once harbored microscopic life, based on deoxyribonucleic acids in these springs.

This at least makes some sense..

The gun does look like an M-29 Incisor. But it may be a spin-off of Mass Effect. The armor the guy's wearing looks older than what we're used to seeing in the Mass Effect Universe. Maybe this is something that's happened before? First Contact War maybe. No way to know.

I'm mostly with BDB here.  My money's on spin-off, since that seems to be the rising trend these days (HALO Wars, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood).  Additionally, the first hints of this new game are less than a year after the release of ME2 -- lightning fast to be a sequel of the same calibre as the previous ME games.  I can't believe BW would be in for a space marine FPS, though -- we clearly have enough of those to please even the choosiest chooser.  Modern FPSes bore me, so I'm going to just assume it's not that.

I also think that the Incisor-like SR is not just a coincidence. It has got to be related to Mass Effect.

It's not ME related, it's on all announcement forums. It's a new post apocalyptic IP

And your source is?

Except for your personal opinion, of course.
Just because they announced it everywhere does not mean it is a new IP.

if you pay attention his underarmor clothing looks a lot like the one on the n7 armor of the second game.

Another shooter with a generic white big bad short-haired guy ? How creative...

Looks good though.

My thoughts exactly.

I hope this is ME related, but I fear it's not.

Why waste time and resources to establish a completely new universe when you already own one that allows for post-apocalyptic near future shooting (Just take Shepard back to the slums on earth or some devastated colony), I wonder.

If this is gonna be another fps/tps shooter, I'm just going to switch off. I don't play bioware games for those.

Combined with the Incisor-looking rifle, it's pointing towards something ME related at the moment. I don't think it's ME3 though.

I say it's another story-driven dialog tree game, based in the ME universe, taking place during the First Contact Wars/Relay 314 Incident.

I said ME3 yesterday, wrong I was.

dlarke's -000-0000-0-00--- album is odd, if you go from the last barcode and work you way up by changing the last digit of the URL, you get to this: http://social.biowar...ms/925446/63077

Which contains a link to this image.

Not sure about the second two codes, but the first image decodes as "Space Marine Shooter." Pass.

The armor appears ME-ish upon examination when we barely get a clip from the back.

Edmonton studio is working on DA2 and ME2/3.

Austin studio is working on TOR.

Leaves the Montreal studio with nothing to work on, meaning it'll most likely be a Montreal studio project.

Montreal studio is recruiting for MP.

Montreal studio is said to be expanding universes.

We're getting a multiplayer expanded universe of Mass Effect, most likely because:

Dragon Age has no guns.

Those aren't blasters and Bioware probably wouldn't wish to work with LucasArts if they had the choice.

It'll be a prequel because:

Anything set during Mass Effect 1 isn't really much of a war, it's more of Shepard doing stuff.

Anything set during Mass Effect 3 or afterwards would essentially lock down a few events of that game. Better or worse.

Aside from the Battle of the Citadel, the only time humans faught was on Shanxi. The area in the trailer shows a distinct human building pattern. Meaning it's probably a First Contact War game.

Like Fallout except linear and only a third of the content, but instead of a dessert its a cold apocalypse. I will be expecting a better story and dialogue though, but Bioware doesn't get points for those anymore. I have just come to expect that of them. Yea, I'm going to pass on the VGA's this year since they gave it away here.

Edit
Mass Effect: Reach, except we kick the **** out of them.

I will be disappointed if it is a mass effect 3 announcement this early. It would mean they are getting pressured into releasing more games faster. This would naturally degrade the content they could deliver and the quality.

Shot in the dark, and I don't know if anyone else has suggested this; but it looks to me if, and that's a big if, it's something to do with ME, it could be a prequal about the occupation of Shanxi during the First Contact War.

Bioware you know that whenever you try to get the hype train going , it goes off the rails or gets derailed. Either way it seems to end badly. Least that has been my experience .
