id like to see the resistance be a trump card for humanity--and the galaxy in general. if the resistance can destroy just two reapers-two-it will be one hell of a shock to them. throw in the fact that earth likely still has a stockpile of nuclear warheads, and that may just be possible.

And we all thought it was a screencap of a multiplayer game. It was just some nub hiding out in Big Ben waiting for Shepard to save him. Can. Not. Wait.
Lol, who said there wont be a multiplayer in ME3there will be at least co-op !
Who said there will be MP in ME3? For all we know there won't be an ounce of MP in ME3. Who knows while there making ME3, they could be starting to work on the spin-off which may include MP. We just don't know yet.

Yeah, that's why I'm thinking that a possible MP might be about resistance vs invaders, not only because it seems obvious but I too would like to see the resistance having a major role in some way.
Imagine fighting inside a reaper to plant a nuke in the drive core... Could be sweet.

yeah but...if all of earth gets destroyed by the time shepard shows up, whats the point of "saving" it?

OK, probably thinking way too much on this again but assuming (not direct control but) that the trailer shows the events in the beginning of ME3, the guy says 2+7=9 million dead in the first week. That is actually a surprisingly low number IMO. Given the reapers capabilities, they should be able to destroy whole cities with one strike and given the population growth in between nowadays and the time ME plays, you'd think the initial death toll would be much higher (unless of course they want to indoctrinate instead of destroy). In any event, there are still more than enough people around for a useful resistance.
Oh and I doubt nuclear weapons will be of much use against the reapers. Mass Accelerators are much more efficient and look how much use they were against Sovereign. A couple of Thanix cannons would be nice though
EDIT: @Stormy-B: Nukes in the drive core? Why didn'*t I think of that? It is the ultimate weapon in just about any SciFi scenario after all. Alright, strike the comment about the nukes. Reapers are gonna be virmired!

Also I am glad San Francisco or New York isn't being attacked in the trailer. The golden gate bridge has been destroyed too many times.

Nope. I think that thing was the blue zombie (husk?) that Reapers create by impaling humans on those dragon's teeth spikes.

@AngusJimiKeith: Hopefully that won't be an issue. The game should be about the time before the attack, and then an crazy race to get the last allies/weapons/poodles/whatever that is needed and rush back to our blue ball and beat the crap out of the reapers.

indeed. i still cant believe how overlooked nukes have been in the "we need a weapon to stop the reapers" discussions...we already have one, we just need to USE IT. EMP from the nuke alone would fry a reaper's circuitry; not to mention the ridiculous heat and blast radius...once you get past the barriers, reapers are toast. Soverign proved that. since nukes arent kinetic weapons, barriers are useless.

harbinger himself said that the collecters had failed and "we will find another way," so i would think they're out of the equation.
EDIT: @ mr. fob: i think he was talking london or england alone. no way a full scale reaper invasion only "kills" (or indoctrinates) 9 million in a week.

Using it is one thing, using it in an effective way is a totally other. Chances are that detonating a nuke in space might do nothing to a reaper, so it needs to be used in atmosphere to get the heat and blastwave. That means dealing with radioactive fallout etc etc... I'm not totally discounting nukes, but I think BioWare's got something snazzy in store for us to go reaperbashing with comes winter 2011

@AngusJimiKeith: Well, chances are that nuclear stockpiles would have been dismantled by that time since it simply is to expensive to maintain and use it in when there are mass accelerators that are at the very least "cleaner" than nukes.
