How can something that is exactly what you were expecting BE SO AWESOME?
Yeah, glad I'm not the only one who feels this. Everyone knew Mass Effect 3 was being developed and would be revealed one day. However, this little teaser led us to believe it was something that we were not aware of yet. Why do so many people act like the unvealing of Mass Effect 3 (a game we all knew was being developed) is the best thing to happen in video gaming history?
Seriously, I'm really disappointed because I was hoping for a new series or something.
That is not how new series are announced. Companies usually don't appearl to the most hardcore fans of one specific fanbase for one of their game series to advertise a new game series. Why would you expect them to reveal a game other than Mass Effect given that every single hint they've dropped relates to Mass Effect? O.o

i
definately wanted earth. i did NOT want the entire game to focus on
earth...which is what im seeing here. dont disappoint me Bioware.....not
only will the last game of the trilogy suck miserably...
....you'll
also need to deal with getting a two-mile restraining order on fans who
also happen to shoot guns competitively.
I bet we'll get a DLC for ME2 on Earth now that we know it'll be wrecked in ME3. BTW, threatening to kill people is both messed up and childish.

@AngusJimiKeith: I wouldn't worry about
that. If the game was focusing only on earth it wouldn't be Mass Effect,
it kinda goes against the whole thing. Earth will probably be the
setting for the massive ending battle.
I've got my bets on opening
unexplored mass relays in ME3 and exploring unknown parts of the galaxy
in search for allies and weapons.
That'd be pretty awesome, yeah.
As far as nukes... seriously? You want to fight a billion-year old civilization that destroyed every other civ in the interim with 20th century weaponry? Wow, you guys have some high hopes... Now nukes are powerful, but what good do you think a nuke is gonna do against a 10 meter thick bulkhead of advanced composite materials, protected by particle sheilds and most likely easily able to absorb and redirect heat? And you guys are assuming that Reapers just have slightly better versions of Earth technologies. Only particle shields? What would make you think that? I think they just MIGHT have figured out a few extra defenses.
Me? I'm gonna surprise the Reapers with a few tricks, fight them tooth and nail on Earth, and give them a reason to want Earth even more (maybe make it obvious they can get what they want out of Earth if they beat my armies)... then I'm gonna blow up the damned Sun. I play Paragon, but it really is the most logical option. Draw as many Reapers to a single solar system as possible and then destroy the entire thing. Just gotta keep them from escaping (or detecting) the supernova somehow. I'd probably use the Haelstrom data from ME2 to figure out how to blow up the sun, though. Hopefully get the defense fleet out right before the supernova hits. Sorry, Earth.
I did once see a physics explanation of what would happen if the sun just suddenly disappeared (not a supernova, just if it poofed out of existence). Would all the planets in orbit lose their orbits and just fly off before they saw the light disappear? No, because time, gravity, and the speed of light are kinda wound up into one thing. Like... time "travels" at the speed of light or something. For that reason, I have hope that the Reapers wouldn't detect the sun going supernova until it's too late, simply because of how physics works. They wouldn't detect a distortion in the gravitational field of the sun because the sun won't have gone supernova yet for their position in space until the light reaches them. I'd probably have the fleet between the Sun and the Earth, then they launch a bunch of nukes and explode them pre-emptively to create a "smoke screen" to disguise the first stages of the supernova.
Okay. So it's an RPG, not real life. And that's probably not an option. But... it's what my Paragon Shepard would do if he could. Sacrifice one planet to destroy a huge portion of the Reaper fleet. My Renegade moment? :-P

I'm kinda disappointed. Only 3 awards:
best studio, best RGP, best Xbox360 game. I thought ME2 would get the
most of them. This is a surprise, a disappointing one.
It's Spike TV.
Oh, I also want to say that the guys analyzing those hints did a VERY impressive job figuring out the main character was in Big Ben (with evidence, not just a guess) BEFORE the trailer.

Perfect example being Stargate Atlantis. There was this new race, you could hardly kill... On later seasons it was one burst of assault rifle and they died, unless they had plot armor equipped.
My guess is earth will be under attack right from the start, but it is also place of the last mission. I bet you can enter it at any stage you want like the omega4 relay. But go unprepared, and you will not survive. Or your team atleast.
At start we gather some teammates (old and new alike), then we are off to search the weapon that made that scar on some random planet. I think loyalty missions are replaced with missions where you gather other races to help out. Would be kind of stupid to have loyalty missions at time like that... "I will save galaxy with you, but I will only be of help (and survive) if you help me find my ipad charger cable!" (in grand scheme of things, any personal issue will seem like that in comparison).
That naturally depends on time frame of things. Extinction takes like 100years and if game will picture a fight that takes year I understand crew members wanting some closure first. If it is like a week on the other hand..
That's my 2 cents, and first post on these forums

Yeah. I recognise it as his voice, but he's speaking very differently to the way he did in Spooks or Strikeback (or even that mobile phone advert he does), so i could be mistaken, but i'm confident that i'm not.
I hope i'm not, at least. Spooks is my favourite TV show.

I think you have many good points. And actually I think they just got lucky with Sovereign.
And the narrator on the trailer was talking about the first day and week, which might mean that when ME3 begins the reapers have just hit Earth. And I'd assume that we gather a small squad to help us to get other races to help us defeating the reapers and to find a weapon to quickly destroy all of them, considering that there are hundreds or thousands, maybe even millions of reapers out there.

Sounds good to me; help other species (or organisations) with their Reaper problems, they'll come help you when you go to save Earth. And, lets face it, Earth will obviously have the vast majority of the Reaper attack. It's important to Humans, and therefore Shepard, and we know how much the Reaper's dislike Shepard.
The reason I say "organisations" is because, face it, there's gotta be some way to make nice with the Blue Suns and other Merc companies, and probably Cerberus, if you annoyed TIM at the end of ME2. Then again, he might help regardless. It is Earth, after all, and he knows the Reapers are coming. So unless his space station gets attacked and you need to save him, he'll probably offer assistance regardless of what you did in ME2.
Either that or the sun behind him will be an important Dark Energy-related plot point, like Haestrom. And the Seeker Swarms. And Gianna Parasini's next case. There's a lot of foreshadowing.

hmmm they did sort of do that in DA, in the end the small guys were just soo easy. But that could come down to leveling up from the start… no, they were like one hit kills… But I see your point.
I'm sure BioWare are not about to stuff up the greatest end game of all time (yes, better than halo). Hell it took 2 games just to get to this point; to mess it up now would be beyond criminal. However ( referencing DA again) the whole allies could make or break it for me. I want to see ramifications for the first two games, Where is you were an ass to everyone and killed off pretty much everyone, you can’t beat the game, or it just has a bad end game, the universe is taken by the reapers.

Btw, I don´t think the Reapers are focussing on just Earth. They´re probably attacking the homeplanets of every species. Helping them out might result in their aid

I was very confused when I saw the reapers walking like that. What's the point of that? I'm not sure I get what they are doing in this trailer. Do they still want to harvest humans? This doesn't seem to be working out, according to the high death toll. Or is the soldier not referring to deaths but harvesting victims?? And what's up with the creature that gets shot? Judging from the shape it looks like an indoctrinated human.
So if the reapers want to use humans for the construction of more reapers, why launch a devastating attack? Wouldn't it have made more sense to send thousands of collectors (there must be more of them, right?) to stun and abduct people?? THEN destroy earth completely. I don't see how harvesting humans and destroying the galaxy at the same time would work... if the reapers just want to kill everybody, walking around like that is a pretty dumb strategy!
Well, we'll find out what it all means in a year, I guess.

The human Reaper plan failed. They wanted to create one as a replacement for Sovereign (to gain quick access to the Citadel). Now they probably just want to indoctrinate and kill.
