WTF! Why do people keep saying Summer Holiday? There is no such thing in the game industry. If they meant Summer they would just say Summer 2011. Also it is a known fac that most people are out and about during the Summer, so why would Bioware release their biggest game in the worst months for gaming, tv and every other source of home entertainment? Use your brains people. That is why almost no company releases major games in the Summer. Unless it meets certain criteria.
This one is simple. It's because they are not from the US (i'm not either, but I have the knowledge). And in Europe, especially the Eastern, Holidays mean summer, when the school's off, june, july and august. [HAD TO WRITE YOU A PM ON THAT, BECAUSE I WOULD GET BANNED FOR THAT - already been

So just because I know Bioware is a Canadian company I'm supposed to know every term North Americans use in their language? Sure, I did understand they meant winter when they said holiday, but the first thing I think of when I hear "holiday" is the summer break. Please stop making assumptions everyone in the world knows perfect American English and knows all about your culture.

I'm terribly sorry. Of course, I should've said "their culture".
But enough of this. I sense this thread has derailed from the subject far too much.

My point still stands. People should not apply their own cultural context to something that is not geared specifically to their country/culture. Assuming the whole world uses the word holiday to describe summer is, you guessed it, an assumption. Everyone makes assumption. The thing that separates a good assumption from a bad assumption is how well thought out it is.hangmans tree wrote...

So how can a European come to a logical assumption? Now some one else has brought this point up, but has there ever been a trailer for a game or a movie with a release date titled "Summer Holiday"? I've never seen one. Not that there isn't, Im sure theres some from Europe, but thats where my point of Bioware not being from Europe comes in. Now Im pretty sure in Europe when you're done school and get a job you do not continue to take the entire summer off for holidays. So do the working class still call summer the holidays? No, its a school holiday, and this is where my point of Bioware not being a school comes in. Bioware doesn't market solely to European school kids.

I´m sorry , but i just have to point this out. Accually the workingclass in Sweden do get 4 weeks summer holiday payd vacation. So I do associate holiday with summer.
That being said, I do think the gaming industry in general think of christmas as the major release holiday, because releasing in the summer just dont sound like a smart strategy.

Sure, the ME universe is potentially big as the SW's one... there might be an entire series of game just on krogans-rachnis or geths-quarians wars, or spin-offs about the single most popular characters... I'd love to see the adventures of Garrus ar Archangel for example, seeying the nature of the character that might even be a nice FpS Spin-Off.

I'll also admit that I was not very specific as to whom my comments where directed at.
I mean, I understand the confusion as to which holiday. But when someone (several people infact) has answered the question and people ignore it and continue to ask and doubt your answer Well, that just gets on my nerve.
Anyway, ME3!...

Besides AFAIK game/movie teasers/trailers usually show two-word phrases like "fall 2010" and "summer 2009". Still can't remember "holidays XXXX", but it's the best of others like "Christmas XXXX" (too Christian for PR?) or "winter XXXX" (what I imagine as a really wide period of time), and "December XXXX" is too precise.
I know we all want to get ME3 as fast as possible and late 2011 is a long, long time of waiting (or not). Human mind is a tricky b**** and sometimes shows us unreal things we're willing to see :> . We'll better use that summer time to escape from computer's gravitational field and get some rest and fun... outdoor.
Frozen Mind sees this topic as a potential trolling threat and increases users control by random female accounts groping... wait... rule 30... erasing last lines...

Think about it for a minute: if there was a multiplayer FPS based on the
Mass Effect series, you could replicate battles that took place throughout the storyline.
What sane ME fan wouldn't want to play
Humans vs. Turians in the First Contact War? Mercenaries vs. Alliance soldiers? Vorcha vs Blue Suns on Omega?
If the game borrowed the best elements from the Call of Duty series, Star Wars Battlefront, and
Battlefield series, it would be the third best game I've ever played.
(Nothing will ever beat ME 1 or ME 2; except possibly ME 3.)
