Is anyone worried about lack of "official" gameplay footage?

Dev diaries, yeah. We'll probably get one or two.

And DAO hadn't even been out a year when they announced DA2 was coming out next March.
not that I'm complaining, btw. I mean, I'm all excited for DA2 and wish it were out now.......lol.
I just don't want a rushed job that falls way short of expectations.........

Meh, I'd rather see them spend zots on the game and not on demos. Polish game, release some polished video, and I'm good with that. Unpolished demos often net negative "reviews" anyway, despite the fact that they are instructed that the views they are seeing aren't of the final product...
Heh, reminds me of Too Human.
Anyways, no, I am not worried about a lack of official gameplay footage. Getting some down the pipe at some point would be nice since the interweb is judging the game right now off of convention demo's that were filmed by someone's cheesy iPhone camera or something. I wouldn't be surprised that marketing will release more into the holiday season to up hype and get pre-order sales rolling for the Signature Edition stuff.

You think the screaming is bad here now? Wait until they start releasing stuff that could be construed as "spoilers".

The complete lack of information regarding companions, characters and plot is quite annoying though.

I think this is a good thing. If they start releasing this info I will probably leave the forum to avoid spoilers.

They were, but that was before the long delay, back when the game was set for a Spring release on PC and Autumn on consoles. Still, we'd seen more of DAO at the same stage relative to original release date, but I suspect that was because they wanted to raise awareness for a game that most people had probably forgotten existed.

So graphics and animations aside (which you can see on the console ones), we're asking to see something thats much like a game they know we've played.
I know it would address some fears and all, but it's not like many of the naysayers are presuaded by things like "reason" or "evidence", I'm not sure it would be worth their time.

Bioware doesn't really release gameplay videos. Just like they don't release demos. I think an ME2 demo was the first demo they ever released.
I vaguely remember Baldur's Gate I had a demo release with the first two chapters.
There was a BG2 demo with all of Chapter 1 (Chateau Irenicus) that went out with CGW. They had to add a second CD to that month's issue, which was unusual at the time.
I remember this because that demo was what got me into playing Bio's games. I was pretty much done with D&D after Azure bonds soured me on the Gold Box games -- I had never really been a fan of the system in the first place.
Regrettably, this meant that I had to play BG1 in a state of high spoilage.

No, they released those starting in October 2008 when Origins was slated to be released on PC in March 09. So we had definitely seen way more of the actual game in action than we have seen DA2 at this point.
Surely they need to release some PC gameplay footage before their little January preorder deadline comes up. Unless they really don't want people preordering the game.

I wouldn't say I'm worried but the whole "Lets announce the game and then go out of our way not to show it on the internet" for months on end is odd. That just gets more to their marketing than anything. The game is coming out in about 3.5 months and we have yet to see any "official" gameplay videos at all.
Thats not very common for most games, which will have some gameplay videos out not too long after announcing. Even going off of past BioWare games, ME2 had gameplay video at E3, DAO had plenty of gameplay in October 2008 when it was scheduled for March 09 release and most other games slated to come out in the same time frame as DA2 next year have gameplay videos out.
It makes me think that they are in total crunch mode now though and rushing to get the game done, as they no doubt need to have content locked well before March. And likely only want to show the game off on the internet when they know what will be in the final version, which given the short dev cycle, they'll probably end up making last minute cuts if they're trying to push this out in March.
Thats what worries me- the game being rushed and corners being cut and QA lacking, all in the rush to meet the deadline.
I'd be worried for the reasons listed above, if I had more than a passing interest in the game that is.

You're on a forum filled with people expressing worries about the game. It would take all of five minutes for you to read another thread and come across people talking about their numerous concerns.

I just wish the release date gets pushed for another year, say 2012, give them more time to work on the game, I'm in no rush at all, no gameplay footage? I've already dealt with my DA2 craving issues, I just wish they didn't rush the release and like it or not they ARE rushing it, one year isn't enough even when you had all the material and the lore of the original title to begin with.
