"minsc is in charge swords for everyone"
This game almost makes up for the money wasted on Baldur's Gate 1 & 2

nwn had a terrible story, uncreative gameplay, repetitive quests, and was pure **** visually. its only saving grace was the mod community and all the dweebs in multi land.
oblivion was better than nwn both story-wise and definitely visually, but the ruleset was ass-backwards and internally inconsistent. mods made it worth playing but the difficulty of getting a good storyline into the game without introducing game-breaking glitches was/is beyond most of the modders' skills.

Yeah, wrong crowd. No one will buy your trolling. Most of us enjoyed NWN and NWN2 is where the failing happened.
I wont go into BG2, its not worth my time to defend brilliance.
Speak for yourself! I regretted buying NWN right from the start. There wasn't anything about it I liked. And I'm one of those people who thought BG1&2 were some of the best computer games ever made. I tried it again a year later and didn't make it much further. I've never understood what Bioware fans saw in NWN 1 & 2.
As for Dragon Age, it is a very good game... I'd give it an 8/10 myself which is pretty good on my scale! If Bioware could get the graphics (especially the modelling, they've always had problems with 3D modelling) up to the level of the competition, and if they could make the combat seem less.... scripted... and more... fun... then I'd give it a 10/10.
To be fair, they have improved both the 3D graphics and the combat. A lot. I give them credit for that. But the game still seems weak to me in both those areas compared to other lesser titles.

Have you guys heard about that particle super-collider they built in Europe somewhere? Cool stuff.
The LHC, Large Hadron Collider. They should have called it the HBC to be honest, the Huge Broken Collider.
Also, run this javascript on a webpage to see if the LHC has destroyed the world yet like many said it would:
if (!(typeof worldHasEnded == "undefined")) {
document.write("YUP.");
} else {
document.write("NOPE.");
}

What I saw in NWN/NWN2 was that they were the closest thing to a baldur's gate like game getting released. Are they vastly inferior to BG? YES. But they were still the closest thing to be had. Now we have DA:O. Still not quite BG, but very close (WTF is up with MMO sidetasks).CraigCWB wrote...

The Baldur's Gate and the Icewind Dale were the best games ever created in human history and still are.
too bad TSR was bought by Wizards who destroyed D&D.
Dragon Age is the best rpg I've played since then. great system, cool story, though i've always had a dream for an Icewind Dale or Baldur's Gate sequel in 3,5 rules.

Unfortunately when you consider how bad NWN was and its 3 ****ty expansions I'd say Bioware still owes me around 80 dollars.

Yeah, I see exactly what you're sayin'. Radiohead's still the closest we've come, but I don't think they gave refunds once you paid up.penetrable wrote...

Still, a very succinct and thoughtful post on the nature of the free market economy. I applaud you, sir. And you even managed to make it relevant to Bioware and Dragon Age. Again, I applaud your efforts.

) Black Isle man,
Yeah I never understood how people can have a game as one of their absolute faves and not even know who made it.
Except Bioware had nothing to do with it :
