In the Dalish Elf origin story, my female Elf was wearing the same Dalish leather armor that Tamlyn was wearing. Why did his armor cover his whole body from his head to his knees, while hers was just a leather bikini that left her whole gut exposed?

I can understand how metallic armor would need to accommodate for a woman's breasts, so the metal protecting the busom would need to protrude outwards. Otherwise, her breasts would get squished. However, the Dalish leather armor looks ridiculous on women.

Yes, it's entirely useless, but so is all the leather armor. All of it leaves women's chests exposed in a way that's not optimal for survival.

You have to understand that these are created by some nerdy guys who were not getting any until they got all rich from games so they have tons of sexual frustration and fantasies to act out. Hence skimpy armor on women where boobs and stomach flesh is shown to the max XD

They're only producing what the customers will buy, and it's my understanding that Dragon Age is popular with a lot of women. I'm a guy, and even I'm disappointed at the leather armor differences. The female characters' sexy bodies underneath the armor ought to be enough. Even a gorgeous babe is going to want to cover up before going into battle. Lol. I have no complaint on the busoms for the metal armor though, since metallic armor for women probably would need to be designed that way.

I've never worn armor so i couldn't say lol.

It's not really a horrible thing but sometimes i wish they'd design women in games without thinking of the sex appeal first but i guess that is what sells. Though not every attractive woman dresses like a street hooker >.> so they really don't have to have them walk around showing cleavage and skin to be sexy

I am a guy too and I never liked that kind or armors either, I allways remember Legolas saying that the armor the orcs were wearing did't cover the neck well.

I don't know, I guess Xena Warrior Princess harmed the fantasy genres for several decades. At least the medium and heavy armors are not like that, as it happens in a lot of games.

Urgh. I always felt the leather female armors were ridiculous. A serious thanks to tmp for the unisex leather armor mod.

I have worn armor. Even with a generous bosom, there wasn't an issue. They squish down.

tmp7704 has a series of proportions fixes for the DA female models (human, elf and dwarf) that has the option to install new default light armor, so your fem!PC's armor looks more like the male!PC's.

tmp's fixes are a must (For Dwarves at the bare minimum), and they really do solve a lot of the sexualisation problems. Awesome set of mods!

A woman's leather armor would still need to have room for the boobs though (unless it's loose-fitting).

Modern women's body armor. Strong enough not to get shot, but made for a woman.

You can see her chest just fine if you squint. It's enough to let you see she's a female.

DA is an FRPG. In the Fantasy genre, women who expose everything but boobs and bum never get hurt any worse than their male counterparts. Case in point - Red Sonya in her steel bikini.

Elven women aren't as big on top, so I guess it'd look about right. Dwarven women have those monster-sized knockers though ... It might not look right on them.

Well I got the proportion fix so those huge knockers are gone.

Yay for smaller sized chests! :wizard:

I'd actually rather have the skimpier armor on my characters. In my opinion, (and I'm a woman so don't beat me up too badly for speaking ill of my own sex) armor on women characters makes about as much sense as women fighting and actually carrying around those huge war hammers & battle axes! Maybe women were 'tougher' than they are today (and this is fantasy afterall); but, I'm *certain* I couldn't even begin to think about lifting one...let alone actually trying to use it.

So yeah, I just want my character to look pretty :)

And you being a woman doesn't stop that from being ridculously sexist, horribly offensive and in my personal opinion stupid.

If that's the case why have a female warrior at all? You might as well make her a mage and be done with it. Women are incapable of fighting after all. <_<

Nothing wrong with your character looking pretty if that's what you're into. Saying women can't fight on th other hand is just...urgh. I'm trying not to rant.

Women could use daggers and ranged weapons as well as a man (ranged weapons for sure). Women might even be better mages. Even in our real world, women seem to be a little bit more psychic than men. Nowadays, wars are fought with guns. Guns are ranged weapons, and overall, female soldiers seem to use them as well as men. I see your point about wearing full suits of armor and swinging battle axes though.

Agreed. There's plenty of women in history who were good fighters and just as capable as the men (if not more so). I'd argue that women can be much more brutal than men can be (Look at women fighting, especially if equipped with things like stillettos).

Joan of Arc, Queen Boudica - They're just the tip of the iceberg.

Did I say women couldn't fight? I thought I said fighting & carrying around those axes & hammers that in all honesty would WEIGH more than they do! Meaning.. how could they lift something that was heavier than they are and actually fight with it? Perhaps I worded it weird..  I was talking about fighting with the weapon choices dear.. not the capability of fighting.

Add to that the weight of what the armor would be? THAT'S my point..not that women can't or couldn't fight. Sorry if you misunderstood my meaning.
