Generally men aren't attracted to girls who look like frickin Chuck Norris.

Now i'm hoping by buff you mean a girl who looks like she keeps in shape (the type of girls whos into athletics ect.). Sure I wouldn't mind if they added a little muscle to the design of the female arms, but they shouldn't be making them thicker than they already are.

With that said, please don't use the word buff so much. You keep giving me an image of Hulk Holgen in  my head.

Oh no! By buff I mean someone like Layla Ali. Not chuck norris. Besides he's not buff anyway just ugly.

Ew...chest hair. Ick.

Frankly those twig arms need to go. They need buffer arms...and smaller chests to be honest.

And generally women aren't attraced to guys that look like the hulk. Too much is simply too much.

Though...Hulk Holgen is what I think when I see a buff guy. Ick. Arm veins.

I think the whole large chest game is just a joke of how much sex appeal is the game. Like how the guys have loin cloths that barely covers their twig and berries.

btw... the girls have ******....

well they're not technically loin cloths. They're speedos.

If you look at any character in underwear mode you can clearly see that bioware seems to have amplified their body parts a bit. Like the men have large bugles, and the girls have a slight ****** going on. Also you can see the girls nipples sticking out of her bra if you look close enough. And lets not forget how clearly visible their "cheeks" are.

I just think its meant to be a joke by Bioware. Or they were just angry they couldn't have nude characters, so they did the next closest thing.

btw to answer the breast question. I wouldn't mind smaller breasts. Like Leliana for example, is suppoused to look cute, she doesn't need unaturally huge boobs.

You do not become the hulk from lifting a 2HD sword. For some someone claiming to be knowledgeable did you even read the rest of the topic? We have no idea what those swords weigh.

You would bulk up based on how those 2H swords are depicted in the game. Unless they are magic swords, those swords would be heavy. Many are huge broad swords - distorted for the sake of game probably more so than would be practical in real life. They also have a strength requirement indicating that they aren't 'magically light' or anything. Not just swords are involved but huge mauls and axes.  Have you seen the size of the heads on those 2h axes and mauls? They seem to be the size of 3/4 of the torso. It's bad ass no doubt but to think these things are light is just preposterous.

And where are you getting the bionic man from? I didn't mention anything about her lifting a damn car but a weapon. A weapon that she has been trained with for a while. The least you could do is actually read the one line you quoted where I mentioned physical fitness.

The quote I was referring to: "I don't agree about the bulking up like the incredible hulk. She'd be fit and would have some really buff arms. But she wouldn't be a beast. "

She'd be more than just 'fit' to be able to wield those 2H weapons as depicted in the game. When I think 'fit' I think of fitness models. My point is it wouldn't just be their arms that would 'bulk' up which is what you were implying in the quote above. Your whole back, legs, and shoulders would bulk up. Sure you can disagree, but swinging a 2H weapons is a compound movement not an isolation movement like doing a bicep curl or triceps pushdown.

And I already said she would need to be buffer but unless those swords are hundreds of pounds she would not look anywhere near the damn hulk.  (Urgh I hate the twig arms on the normal female form)

They wouldn't needed to be hundreds of pounds. Go to they gym and look at the weights some body builder chicks throw around to gain size.

Of course her body would actually need to look fit. Females in DA aren't fit they're just skinny! But saying she'd look like a hulk is just...gah. I said her arms would be buffer but I also mentioned looking fit.

And I'm not saying she'd be a 'hulk.' I don't consider the male humans to have Conan hulk types. But their muscular physique on a woman would make a woman appear "bulky."  Now if you think having a female look like one of the male physiques in the game is just being "fit" then we'll just agree to have a different view of what "fit" looks like for a woman. Things are relative - if you have a female toon looking 3/4 as 'fit' as one of the male characters I'd call that a "bulky" woman - not just fit.

Also looking like a dude? So...what being muscular makes a woman a man now?

I guess it's subjective. I, and I'd probably safe to say most men, do not find 'large' muscles on a woman that attractive. It makes them appear more manly and less feminine. Again I'm not talking about being 'cut' and 'fit' (eg fitness models which I find attractive) - I'm talking about a very muscular body - more on the side of female body builders. I'd argue that a 2H warrior in DA would look more like a female body builder (which still isn't huge relative to a man body builder) vs looking like one of the fitness models.

We actually might be agreeing in the end:) We'd both agree that the women depicted in the game, as they are now, are two skinny to be realistic warriors, although I like it that way - It's a fantasy game so I think it looks cool when some skinny hot chick throws around a war hammer that looks like it's the size of her whole body. It's just cool:)

Maybe what you see as "fit," many of us are thinking looks bulky. I guess we'd have to start posting some google images to clarify fit vs bulky.

Anyway, I din't want to come off as being arrogant, I just know that moving around heavy weights in a compound movement (like swinging a large maul) would do a lot more than just make your arms more bulky (yes I know you mentioned it would make you look fit as well - but this gets us back to what fit is... swinging that large maul would make your shoulders quite bulky but maybe you'd see that bulk as just looking fit.)

Yes you should post an image because most female body builders do it for the intention of having huge muscles not just strength. Thus the whole "body building". So I don't consider them to be fit but rather huge on purpose.

And yes I Have a large distincition between athletic, fit, and bulky. Bulky is when I start seeing overly veiny arms. The female form looking like the male (with a six pack, muscular legs and arms) is not bulky just extremely fit.

I never understood the male repulsion of a female who looks strong. Maybe some natural "my dominance is in danger:" thing?

That said I've ever been fond of the overly skinny body type and get rather amused when they're lifting around heavy weapons in the first place. (This goes for elf males).

And yes the DA females are ridculously thin to be wielding such weapons. But in that case Dwarves and elves shouldn't be using them either due to the size and even humans should wield them rarely male or not. For all we know Thedas has an higher average body strength. Actually this is supportd by the fact that the males can wield the weapons as well.

And honestly the male is not bulky enough to be heaving hundreds of pounds either. They look fit not bulky. That's assuming those weapons are that heavy. There's magic in Thedas. I have no doubt they would make certain heavy weapons easier to wield.

Not to mention here's different materials the weapons are made of. I highly doubt a dragon bone weapon would be as heavy as an iron one. (Even if they require more strength for some reason) :?

Though I think the real answer to this is to actually make 2HD weapons look like the 2HD weapons in the old days and not the giant monstrosities they are now.

umm okay....

men reject strong women cause they look a dude. If men were worried about their male dominance then I would be like 10X more scared of Samus Aran and Lara Croft.

Lara Croft's chest undermines any muscular figure she would have. And Samus gets more curves with every installment.

And strong women don't like like dudes. A buff women doesn't look like a fat flabby man or a buff man.

Now overly large men and women both look equally repulsive and monstrous to me.

Personally, I like the Dalish armour - but only as a Dalish elf.  I find it fits the woodland aesthetic nicely.  (This is nothing to do with practicality, mind you - I'm sure that exploring a deep forest with bare midriff would actually leave many scrapes!  But the *look* somehow fits in.)  I played a city elf, though, and I just couldn't make her wear that armour.  It didn't fit in with the grittier feel of that background.  But that's just my cup of fantasy-armour-tea.  ;-)

I know this is probably a stupid question to ask on a fantasy game board, but have any of you actually handled a full-weight one-handed sword? Or better yet, a two-hander? Sorry to bring in the whole "realism in a fantasy setting" thing but Norskatt is right that no "normal" woman on the planet could hope to properly handle a full-sized two-hander. Maybe a women who spent her life bulking up into the incredible hulk, but not in any graceful sense.

Norskatt is not right.  I train with a full-weight sword regularly.  I am a normal-sized woman of no particular strength (and not the only woman of such build in my sword class).  In order to be able to use a heavy sword properly in spite of not being especially strong, it is necessary to coordinate one's body-movement with the sword's intended arc.  This puts the power of the whole body behind the weapon, not just the arms and shoulders.  One must cultivate good timing, balance, and blending in order to achieve this.  But a sword is a weapon of precision and, in my opinion, benefits greatly from this approach.  In many ways, not being very strong is an initial handicap but, with the passage of time, a great asset.  It forces one to learn correct/efficient form (rather than taking strength-based shortcuts), because otherwise nothing will work.

Incidentally, many people (I'm thinking of male and female bodybuilders, but not weightlifters) who spend their lives bulking up simply acquire muscle mass without increasing their strength as much as they could.  One of my instructors likes to call this "fluff muscle."  So size is not everything.  Appearance is not everything.   Please consider this.  :-)

Whatever. I'm mostly just basing my thoughts off of....

Women make better rouges than men

Men make better warriors than women
