Just got this new laptop,  I checked Can You Run it, and it passes in flying colors except under video card.  It passes all specifications except it says I fail because it is one of those intel integrated chips, here are the specs:

Pentium® Dual-Core CPU T4500 @ 2.30GHz
4 gigs of ram
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family with 1.7 gigs of video ram
Running windows 7

Thanks for any help!

Barely, if at all. DA:O does need some graphical grunt, and you have none.

It'll laaaaag. I used to game on that laptop. (Hilariously enough ME2 ran much much better than DAO every did) you'll get horrific battle lag too.

Sorry about that. You'll have to upgrade your drivers, turn everything off (including aero)

And hell..windows 7? Dang. That takes up a good gig of RAM on it's own

Laptops are not really built for gaming. Those intergrated graphics chipsets are no good for a game like DA:O or any game for that matter they are just for running desktop graphics and multimedia like DVD's and stuff. If you want to play games get a desktop and put a fairly decent graphics card in it forget the intergrated stuff it's a no go.

Actually my laptop runs the game beautifully ;)

Top of the line cooling system too. The keyboard never gets hot.

You just have to get a gaming laptop. And those can be expensive it's cheaper to build a desktop.

Why's that funny? Unreal Engine 3 is brilliant, and ME2 runs much smoother than DA:O has ever done (At least for myself).

Becuse the original wouldn't even start on my intel card originally while DAO did but with obscene lag.

Also ME2s requirements are higher.

Though they really opitmized that engine. Yeesh.

(Plus you can't select things half the time in ME2 on an intel chip) :P

Lol i think i'd rather use the money it costs for one of those things and build a gaming desktop can get more horsepower for the price that way.

Yeah but some people don't have enough space for one of those nor the desire to lug it around. Plus I can't drag a desktop down into my college rec room and sit down while watching people make fools of themselves while playing DAO.

Of course, I completely forgot that. Whoops!

my recomendation is get a dell studio 17 or insperon 17R or an M6500 or xps 17 or MX17 and customise it to your spec

That's a professional workstation card. They're not intended for gaming (Although many/most can cope with gaming).

It's a modified gaming card, yes, but it's for professional applications (Such as SolidWorks), and they're not supported by most game developers.

They don't work better, they're basically the same card and the major differences lie within the drivers.

Alienwares are ridculously expensive.

Hell you can get an ASUS with a ATI Radeon Mobility 5870 for about 1200. (Windows 7 i7 core 1.73GHz 6GBs RAM)

The dell might be a good idea though.

I'd recommend the Asus G73jh or G73jw (with the Nvida GTX 460M) for it's cooling system.

It doesn't work better than its equivalent model. Most "normal" laptops have integrated graphics, yours doesn't, so it's only fair to compare it to other laptops with similar hardware specifications (Including a dedicated graphics card).

I don't think that's possible anymore, but it'd be pointless to do so. Turning a more expensive card into a cheaper card is a bit... Y'know.

that is why i bought this instead of other dell's it was a compromise you can play games on and you can use autodesk inventor (3D modelling program) on it as i am an engineering student

on all low settings with no anti-aliasing you probably could, but you'll get some lag.

wow, the pc elitism comes shining out in threads like this. "just go spend money you may not have on something you don't need because that is what i say is the standard for a pc." jeez. how about just a yes or no. why all the condescension?

He won't get some lag he'll get a lot of lag. Particularly in battle. Damage won't deal in time leading to a lot of frustration on his part where enemies that should be dead are killing him.

And it's not elitism it's realism. He wants to game on a laptop he needs to get one capable of gaming. Heck I was in his position and never saw it as eltism.
