Same thing happened with Dragon Age...I hate bioware, most of the time I spend on character creation instead of playing.

Because i will restart the game dozens of times if I see the slightest flaw in the face.

Seems we have something in common but trust me it feels worse when the character is not your own.AstonMW wrote...

but I can't make such a handsome guy in Mass Effect, something is always off.
I want my characters to look like super-hot gay super models.

You could have a look at the ME2 Faces Database and then convert the code to ME1 sliders here.
But there are no numbers ingame, just a slider. How are you suppose to use it then?

While your creating a character there's a code box for you to enter the numbers.

Once you've converted the code, start up Mass Effect, create a new Shepard and use the values given by the converter to create your Shepard, where 1 means the slider is as far to the left as it will go.

For one of my playthroughs, I randomly tweaked around with one of the preset faces and ended up with a vaguely-Tyrese-Gibson-looking Sheppard. Still not quite as good as Sheploo though (It's the odd angles that are hardest to tweak).

He is probably the most handsome character in ME.
And I still don't get how can you put numerical values from the slider converter like 14, 22, 25 and such, there is no frame of reference to anything. It doesn't make any sense.

The numbers are representative of how "full" the slider bar is. If the bar is empty (as far to the left as possible) then the number would be 1. If you move the slider one notch to the right, then that would be 2 and so on. I'm not sure how else to explain it.

Kaidan is actually fairly easy to imitate using the sliders. The hair is pretty straightforward; from there, all it takes is a lot of tweaks to the values.

There is a mod for Dragon Age that lets you change the face without starting again. I'm kinda similar in that, that I will restart the game because the character looks different in cutscenes and dialogues than in the crreation screen in a negative way.
But I agree that you should embrace the ability to create your own character rather than just using someone elses code.
