I think the big problem is that both sides have ****s.

I know I sound like a dick, Sarah knows she sounds like a dick, so does Sylvius, and so on and so  on. Then you get the people who don't know they sound like dicks and think it is impossible for them to be dicks (like Kordais and Dragon Fan22 and every single Character Worshipper). Then you have trolls like Rubbish Hero who just comes on here to stir **** up. The problem lies in the fact that this is the internet, and all these archetypes of posters collide, and if you can't play nicely, then maybe you should at least not go on to these forums. I know that sounds like I'm saying GTFO to anyone who does not agree with me or a certain viewpoint, but it's the opposite, actually. Just because there IS a BioWare forum does not mean that people NEED to go on it. That stuff leads to bans and flamewars and crap.

Whats funny is you didn't mention one person that actually likes the changes in your little tirade because folks like you and Dave of Canada etc are just so innocent and never ever start anything ever.   :innocent:

You forgot the part where I called myself a dick. It wasn't directed at one person, or one group. I don't really see how you could take what I wrote as a "tirade", unless you wanted to in the first place.

The biggest problem I have with DA2 is that Bioware applies again (at least partially) the ME2 "improve=remove" approach to it. I really believe that the devs frequently misinterpret the community feedback by translating some of its suggestions into that pointless formula. What's wrong here?

A few people asking for things isn't exactly community feedback.

Essentially telling people if they don't have nice things to say to GTFO? Yeah I'd call that a tirade.

Except the part where I said that was not what I meant. I just meant that we all need to cool off a bit.

Sarah, the mods have said time and time again, there is a difference between being politically correct and polite. Just be polite. There are plenty of people here who are unhappy with the changes but still remain civil.

It's all my fault. I've been pushing for Bio to remove inventory for years -- I wanted it done in KotOR, but I guess the license wouldn't let them.

You know what they also should remove? The game itself. I want to sit and stare at a blank computer screen.

Yep.
Except I haven't played NWN2 yet.   No radials in it?  That's great news!!!

NWN2 and MotB were both solid imo.

Or you could just, you know - rotate the camera. And then switch characters to see things from different angles. Did people really zoom out that much? Clearly a lot of them did. I simply don't seem to be one of them.

Fair enough, thats totally how it comes off though. I think for me I'm just all sorts of fed up with PC users being left out in the cold when it comes to gameplay footage, cameras etc. I mean if you want to play to each platforms strengths, man up and do it, don't remove stuff from the PC version just because it won't work on the precious 360 sku. Which is obviously where the focus is because they think they'll magically sell an extra few million that way, which isn't going to happen anyway.

Why should we have to switch players to get a different angle when simply scrolling the mouse wheel in and out on the currently selected player achieved the same result with much less mucking around?

If you want to target a spell or ability from one character you cannot switch to another characters perception to do so.

And while I have agreed with many other things you've said, that part is totally illogical. Pray, what feature have they removed from the game that wasn't already working just fine on the consoles?

Customizable equipment? No, that one worked just fine.
Multiple races/character creation? No, that worked just fine too.
Camera views? No comparsion can be made, the consoles never had anything but OTS.

Look, I share your frustration in what appears to be an obvious move towards removing various "options" from the game. But let's be real about this, it has NOTHING to do with one system's limitations over another's. Your argument would hold weight if we didn't have DAO, fully completed, as proof of what "can" and "can't" be done. But since we do, we already know that removing things that worked clearly has nothing to do with limitations.

So what does it have to do with? Well, think about it. Even COD games have a two year development cycle. (Yes, we all know that a new game comes out every year but it's two different companies alternating.) If it still takes them two whole years to BARELY tweak and improve a game and repackage it for sale, how in the world would Bioware be able to handle putting together a full-bodied RPG in only one? Simple, you already know the answer. Blame the development time, not the hardware...at least until we hear of some "new" feature that gets scrubbed or changed because it didn't work out.

Im whit sarah in this its a shame... A true shame.. Bioware slapped the face at the old style rpg fan only to have a better game for console... The funny thing is many people puchased origins for console and enjoyed it.. Now we have a complete different title that lose the soul of the original game... Full of cutdown features and very small better things..So from a original game now we have a sort of dragon effect... Much more mass effect than dragon age.. And all for what?.... I have nothing aganist console or consoleplayers.. I think a title like dragon age origins on the console market is something new and this is good... Why make a clone of another game?... Why let lose the soul of a game only to make it similiar to another one?... Since i puchased dragon age origins because i loved it... And... Yes DAO was not perfect... A sequel with the same engine but with more features and many fix will be awesome... Much more awesome than a short broken game....

This is really a shame... and from bioware... gaah

I want the biowar of the past.. The biowar that makes awesome "RPG"... and not the bioware that make "Videogames"....

With the choice of the market if i search a game more actiony i have many titles much better than dragon age 2 why kill your originality?

They are good at telling stories! Pretty much all their games have a great story.

*Urge to throttle…. Rising.*

Seriously? We’re still blaming ‘the consoles’? DA:O was fine on consoles. Morrowind was fine on consoles. Risen was fine on consoles. Fallout New Vegas was fine on consoles. Complex RPGs work fine on consoles.

Dumbing something down for the mass market =/= dumbing something down for consoles.
