Dealing with Maria tends to make me pretty irritable too. I can totally understand it making ones day bad.

Oh look, a personal insult by someone I haven't even spoken to in this thread, 12 hours after my discussion with Martin. Heck, a person I haven't interacted with in the last week.

It's okay, Sarah. I can just rent a hotel room and we can work out all those Maria frustrations you've got in a more intimate setting.

But can you detach the camera or are you stuck on one character? Can you freely rotate the camera all around?

Hey folks.

Thought I would slide in here to clarify this last query:

The camera is attached to your currently controlled character. It may be rotated freely.

Damn it.

I suppose you invoked the flux card, because that seems quite a 180 from your initial statement that the key to tactical play was freeing the camera from the character.

That's something that belongs in a signature.

Don't take it personally.  She has a tendency to attack people without much reason.  /irony

Maria's given me reason, the whole complain about something, yet do it yourself with an elitist flair about it, tends to do that though. At any rate a site with so many users, there's bound to be people who don't see eye to eye on things.

I like cheese. Not because it is like other foods but because it is simply delicious.

Why type of cheese? Are you an intelligent, glorious, and sexy Gouda eater, or one of those dumbed down cheddar munchers?

OH...NO...YOU...DIDN'T! :pinched: How dare you insult cheddar! ...and such.

Anyone partial to Gruyere? The Swiss stuff preferably, not the French.

Yeah, this is worse than losing the higher view. Probably makes mircomanaging your whole party bothersome.

Yet, in the back of your head, you'll feel the slight tingle of doubt. "What if...?"

the game is going to be awesome since it's made by bioware, but why would they need to change dao so much? couldn't they leave da2 the way dao was and make another game called Dragon Effect or Mass Age or something like that? :(

Can someone tell me what a "flux card" is? I get what the metaphor means, and it seems accurate to me.

This is getting weird. Every time one of these issues comes up, it turns out to not bother me personally. I already use the camera more or less the way DA2's camera will work.

Not wanting to touch this thread dominated by people I really care not to talk with anymore, but there is one small thing I think needs correcting here.

And though I'm sure someone will twist it into something annoying, here I go anyway.

I've never even finished Baldur's Gate.  It is not a favorite game of my by any stretch of the imagination.  So, to be clear, this wasn't some "hidden agenda" thing by me about BG being the best game ever.  That's an argument you'll never see me make.

Back out - go back to discussing cheese and misunderstanding how analogies work.

Well, one of us certainly lost the thread there. My understanding was that Merin was defending Tiax Rules All's right to use BG as a "gold standard," and so his own views weren't implicated. I may have contributed to the confusion by saying  "you can" rather than " "one could," and I regret the imprecision.

Whatever.

As I have not been following this thread, I would like some context on this statement. Is he saying that when in fully zoomed out tactical view you cannot detach the camera and move it around the field?

That appears to be what he's saying, yes.  The camera is centred on the selected character all of the time.

If that's not what he meant, he was being horribly unclear.

It most certainly is unclear.

This is a line between "business as usual" and "you guys suck and what you saib was bordering on a flat out lie."

Er, I didn't put much thought into it. I was just quoting the term Laidlaw used in the thread I linked to:

As you can probably tell from my phrasing, all of this is a bit in-flux  right now, so things may change between now and ship, but I wanted to update you guys on the current direction of things.

So I said I suppose he invoked the flux card, as in, I suppose he invoked the right he established in his last paragraph to abandon any of the statements made in the previous paragraphs.

Flux just means 'change.' A few times the developers have said that every statement they make is subject to change until the game actually ships so we're not to take anything as gospel.

By using the 'flux card' I assume he meant the developers prerogative to alter aspects of the game they've already told us about.

It might also be a reference to the flux capacitor in Back to the Future, which was the thingie you needed to hit with 1.21 Jiggawatts of electricity in order to move through time.

It's spelled Giga.
Doc said it the other way because it wasn't completely set during the time.

Heh. Thanks. I assumed it was one of those Internet metaphors that keep popping up. I would have Googled it but I've found that UrbanDictionary et al. don't necessarily give you the right context.

Anyone else thinking of Will Smith right now?
