I guess it's:  38 Stength, Max. Contitution, the talent that increases armor which is stoneheart , and Precise Striking.

I never used Precise Striking before.  Is it any good?

So I get Precise Striking then Deathblow and then what?

Any tricks to keep Shale alive?  I'm not too optimistic.Posted Image

Shale makes a awesome tank. Makes me weep thinking i used Alistair or my warrior tank before. Shale has the potentinal in her to never die if u do her right. You basically want all of her Stoneheart abilities. 2 of them are incredible. They give her massive AoE Stun on all nearby enemies and their is Stone Roar which is like Taunt. So basically max out her Stoneheart tree. Get her str high enought for the best spirit crystal or nature crystal. Depending on situtaion. i like the nature crystal cause of +12 health regen per sec but its not practical since so many are immune to nature dmg. Thats why i say spirit crystals. Then max out the constituion.

Edit: Also Shale is invaluable against the high dragon fights as she can't be chomp on.

I usually go with 38 CON, and max STR. I simply go with Precise Strike, Stone Heart, and natural crystals as a rule.

Does Strength give physical resistance? If so then maxing strength isn't a bad idea. Either a little more hit points or a little more damage. Which to choose.

One thing with Shale ... keep more than one type of crystals handy so you can change them out if you need Shale with a different set of buffs. I got bit a few times by not have spares around :(

3 Good crystal sets are Natural, Fire, And Spirit as those seem to be the most effective

So no one else has opinions on Shales Combatiness? I made up a word there.

I guess I have used precise striking before with Shale. His tactics come with it active.

Shale is an archer's best friend, hands down.

As i said i usually get his str to 36 or so and max his con. Even when u get him at lvl 8 or so he has almost 300 hps almost double what my Alistair usually has. Last i checked Alistair can't AoE Stun.

Does Flaming Weapons work with Shale and Dog?

Flaming Weapons doesn't work with a Staff I assume because it isn't melee, right?

Yes; correct on both AFAIK. And placing Flaming, Frost, and Telekentic seems to be a winning combo; may even be able to enhance said dmg with first couple of Hexes.

Is no one going to defend poor Alistair? I guess I will then.

I enjoy having Alistair as my main tank as opposed to Shale. First of all, my biggest problem with Shale is the stomping noise he makes when you're running around. It gets annoying after a while. Also, I like to have Morrigan in my party a lot and his banter with her is priceless. Aside from that, lets talk about the things that count.

He's definitely inferior to Shale when it comes to pure health pool but Alistair has some other things going for him in other areas. The strength in Alistair as a tank is the fact that he's a Templar. Cleanse Area is invaluable to have with him and I think it's one of the best talents in the game. Set up a tactic to have him use it anytime a party member has debuffs and you'll mop the floor with enemy mages. It also nullifies enemy CC so you also use it if you or your companions are frozen, paralyzed or in a crushing prison. Let's not forget Holy Smite which lowers the boom of spirit damage in addition to stunning or knocking back mobs around the mage. He has Righteous Srike that drains mana with every hit and Mental Fortress that helps with the mental resistance check and Alistair is the perfect anti-mage.

Alistair can also have 100% spell resist if you gear him properly. It can be done with the following gear:

Knight Commander's Plate: 40% Spell Resistance
The Spellward: 30% Spell Resistance
Key to the City: 4% Spell Resistance
The Veshialle or Starfang (or any 3 socket weapon) with 1x Grandmaster Dweomer Rune (10% Spell Resistance) and 2x Master Dweomer Runes (16% Spell Resistance).

40% + 30% + 4% + 10% + 16% = 100%, and voila: Alistair laughs at enemy mages when he isn't weeping over Duncan.

As for not being chomped by a High Dragon or overwhelmed by Werewolves or other beasts - just make sure he has around 26-28 points in Constitution and he'll survive anything. If he doesn't just throw a heal or a Force Field on him and call it a day. Let's see Shale do that!

My game Glitched and I didn't get the Zevran encounter. Next game I will get Zevran first and then Shale.

Do you have to do Redcliff or the Circle Tower to get the Zevran encounter?

Edit:  I mean do a main quest first before getting Zevran.  You know what I meant.

You can't get Zevran until you complete one main quest. It doesn't matter which one it is.
