Cerberus network says i have no internet connection.. tried all other solutions from other forums and still not working

Hi all,

I know there are MANY forums with ppl having issues connecting the the cerberus network (sorry to write this post amongst the many others) and i have looked at every single one of them and tried every single ways of trying to fix this problem. So far i have not been able to fix the problem. I have tried to email EA but i have had so much trouble getting through to them and so far have not been able to talk to anyone to help.

Ive been playing the game since it was released with no problem at all connecting to the cerberus newtork, and have successfully downloaded DLC in the past. I recently purchased a few new ones but i cannot access them in game as i keep getting an error message when loading the game stating that i cannot connect to the cerberus network as there is no internet connection. (which i clearly do).

I have tried all firewalls, changed ports, authorised ports, entered some codes into comand promt, checked system 32 driver files,  changed Microsoft net communication boxes in control panel and i still can't seem to work out what the issue is. 

The only thing that is different since the last time i could connect to the cerberus network was that i lioved in a different house. same computer still with all the same settings, same modem and same internet provider??

IF anyone has any other idea or solution to this problem, PLEASE let me know as i am now getting quite desperate and just dont know what else to do.

P.S. i have stupid Vista and also playing the game through Steam if that makes any difference!!

You could just turn off the game's online connection (Extras > Options > Online I guess) and use a crack to play your purchased DLCs: http://social.biowar...2845006#2847163

No need for a crack, the 1.02 patch allows you to play with your DLC in offline mode.

Really? There are so many people in the forums who experience the "DLC could not be authorized" error, they can't ALL NOT have 1.02 installed. Myself uses the crack to play with modded DLC-weapons, so I haven't checked the original versions in a while ;-)

Thanks guys.. will try both and hopefully its works cause so far nothing else has.



I also found out earlier that AVG might be causing the problem, which i deactivated in the past and didnt seem to make any difference but ive been battling this for like 2 weeks and am seriously over it!! fingers crossed this patch or crack works!

I recently tried playing while the net was down at my place and couldnt load any saves.
New 1.02 Patch notes claim.
* Fixed an issue where save games that used DLC while offline could not be loaded.

Personnaly never had this problem even before the patch, i could play offline with my DLC, may be i was more lucky.

i dont see when these post wwere created, but today is 7 tuesday december 2010 and since 2 or 3 days i cant enjoy the dlc i have bought because cerberus terminal doesnt connect to validate them!

these are not the first dlc i bought and all always worked smoothly! i can do whatever i like with my computer, dont have any issue and can connect with everything i want. games, videochat, browser and so on. i will not modify ANY of my system parameters, but i think EA should urgently give a solution for this, because many people cant enjoy what they already bought......

i can still play to mass effect2 but i cant see the expansion i have bought and downloaded.

there is an EA technician here , listening? where are you?

i paid for all the DLC of MS2 + i bought dragon age special edition or something...with all the DLC'S inside the game..awakening etc etc and cant play them cause of that stupid company named EA for their stupid "system or wtf activation thingy"ALL the games that is NOT from EA dont have any problems at all ..u just buy install and play but with EA never saw such a massive fail  + Bioware crapy support...good luck with stars wars online if u think that u will succeed with that sort of support then what can i say good luck lol.Enjoy my little money u got cause cause it will be the last from me.

Alba: Given that you havent really posted anything with info we can use, only "getting error", theres not much anyone on these forums can do to help. These forums are for game owners to try and assist each other. EA provides the official tech support for the game, not Bioware. Any problems you have should be directed to EA first. Add to that the fact that you posted a rant, and nothing really useful, anyone who can help will take one look at the rant and ignore it.

Read the "Read First" thread, and post the info it says we require.

"Bogsnot" lets start from ME2...i bought ME2 Deluxe edition via digital,i made My EA acount + BIO,install the game + bought some DLC'S that wasnt included from the deluxe version,Run the game and the cerberus network wont start and shows me all the dlc ibought "overldord,shadow broker and the one with the master thief" unothorized to acces etc etc,As for dragon age also got the digital ultimate version,Now for DA think i made a stupid mistake,i install the game same account as MS2 BUT the dlc's are in another Bio account ( got 2 bio account) in my first bio account the dlc are not there THEN i checked my sec BIO account and all the dlc's was there....sniff.So i guess i cant do nothing for Dragon age? since u cant even delete your EA account and start the thing all over.(ME2 are all fine its just that dam cerberus network that just wont connect) SRY for my english AND the waaaaaall of text

If i understand it right, you have 2 accounts, with the game and dlc registrations mixed between the two.

There isnt anything that anyone on these forums can do to help you with your mistake. These forums are for game owners to help each other. Official tech support is performed by EA. Contact them to sort out the issue.

Did EA change their site?ppl gave me a link but the page wont open...always shows me error,my connection is fine its just this particular page that dont work unless they made a new one? if yes pass the link plz that would be great help thx

After 4 weeks of back and forth emailing with EA game Support (and being passed on to 8 different people and them asking me the same questions over and over) i finally gave up on them fixing this problem. In the end, i worked out that there was a problem within the bioware files of the game. to date i still dont know why this problem occured or how to fix it. 

All in all, i got sooo sick of trying to fix the problem as was seriously desperate to play DLC Lair of the Shadow broker that i completely wiped my hardrive, reinstalled ME2 and its all working again. I HOPE to god this "issue" doesnt happen again because EA are no help. Bioware should offer support like they did for ME1.
