Well this is completely out of the blue - I'm near the end of the game and my character is with Leliana, but I've gone back to camp, and for some utterly random reason Alistair has said he wants to sleep with my character.... erm, wtf, and where is this coming from? There has literally been zero flirting between these two, and I could have sworn his approval said friendly before... Is this normal or a bug?
Alistair's approval says love instead of friendly :/

Which point are you at right now?
There are plenty of lines that can start the romance almost everywhere.
Also sometimes giving him his plot gifts have lines that start the romance. What was the last Alistair related you said before this happend?

You turned the romance on somehow. No need to reload, just let the boy down gently. He takes it pretty well if you tell him you have no future because he's going to be king (for example). Or just tell him straight up. He's got a lot of gifts, not hard to get back an approval loss.

I'm roughly before/after saving anora*. I've looked at the last thing I said to Alistair, which is, "I do like you, and not because of your blood" which was in response to him saying that he doesn't want people to like him because of his background. I'm pretty certain that this shouldn't have triggered anything because originally when I talk to leliana after this, she doesn't bring up alistair - just the usual, "aren't you attentive". Now, no matter what save I reload around this point, for some mysterious reason there's a phantom history with him.
*I've played that part one way, saved it, played it another way saved that, etc... so I have different versions of how that mission was done, and I think doing that has caused something to get buggered up.... Leliana used to just act normal, but now she always brings up alistair as if something's happened, and no matter what save it is, that was the last thing that was said to him.

I had this happen to me (ninja romance) in my first run of DA. I was shocked when Alistair was asking me to choose between Leli and him. Easiest choice I ever made to be sure, but it was still a "WTF?" moment.
Also, if you're on PC, there is a mod that allows you to turn off the romance flag without actually going through dialogue (although he's still going to mention it later).

I've done the same thing, thinking I was giving him a buddy pep talk by telling him that I liked him for who he was, not because of his blood. Got a shock when the next conversation he was giving me a rose. =p

All you have to do is break up wtih him. Be decent, give him a few gifts, etc. As long as his approval is 76+, you won't miss out on any dialog. Like any man, he is liable to get the wrong impression when a pretty woman tells him that she likes him if "as a friend" isn't at the end of that sentence.

Alistair isn't dumb, but he is kind of desperate for affection, poor fellow. I wasn't planning on romancing him with my elf mage, but I used the same line and out popped the rose. I wouldn't bother going back to the conversation. Just let the poor guy down gently and he takes it well.

LOL, yeah, me too! And even when I broke off the "romance" (which was a major shock to me, believe me) she was STILL in love with me, I couldn't beat this chick off with a stick!
It's funny and ironic that you got nija'd by Alistair while romancing Leliana, always the opposite for me. Thankfully, ever since I learned which responses would keep the romance off, as well as installing Qwinn's fixpack to sort out the screwy romance flag bugs, she hasn't ninja'd me since.

Gotta be careful with those romances. Especially when Alistair throws a fit for letting Loghain live. Then taking Loghain to Ostagar to get him Maric's sword to go with the shield. Then Loghain tells you you're attractive... well mr. hero of river dane, my warden's boyfriend is having his Aunt Flo and now you're making passes. Well I was gonna let you bone Morrigan and live but now you gotta die. Can't believe I wasted silver on all those maps.

Eh? Loghain hits on you? is this a mod or something? Because I've never seen that happen. I've gotten his approval up to 100, and basically, all he discusses was how he knows he was a very naughty boy, and needs to make up for being a naughty boy by being archdemon snack.

Oh, that. Yeah, I know about that dialogue, but I dunno if that's what the poster was refering to.
And I don't think Loghain was hitting on a city elf, either, just pointing out that despite being an elven female in a society that sees them as sexualized objects of little intristic value, that she should not let other people's attitudes shape her or degrade her.
