Cant go wrong with a Gears of War style imo.
Also everyone trying to guess the 'period' of time that this game is set, the Incisor Sniper rifle is 'new tech' during mass effect 2, so for anyone to be using one, idicates the game is set in the same time period as Sherperd is doing his mission to save the galaxy

I'd still call it good news, though -because this way at least ME3 won't be hold back by a completely unnecessary mp campaign and I can simply ignore that whole spin-off game while I'm waiting for BW to release their next "real" BW game.

One thing for sure though, this will unite the forum! The ME1 vs ME2 arguments will end overnight - everyone will unite their hatred and scorn on the ME FPS instead. I'll get popcorn

Well if it's MP I'm not interested.

If a game having multiplayer means its not a real bioware game then does that mean Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate II are not real bioware games?

While this concept is not as exciting as the thought of a new Bioware RPG, I definitely have room in my game library for an FPS with a solid storyline. I am Halo'd out.
I'm hoping its some sort of borderlands style co-op multiplayer rpg that plays like Mass Effect 2.

If multiplayer sells well as a seperate product they will try to expand that business. That's why people start corporations... to making money. That's fine, good for them. The part that sucks is that the first group of people they'll try to introduce their "wonders" too will be the RPG fans. So if this is a multiplayer spin off, look for multiplayer in ME3 and don't expect it to go away.
As long as I get ME3 and a solid end to Shepard's tale, I'm happy. I can ignore the Mass Effect games after that.
ME 3 won't include multiplayer, it would make horrible business sense. What would be the point of releasing a multiplayer spin óff? It's to build and maintain a substantial multiplayer userbase for that specific game. 100% guaranteed Mass Effect 3 won't include multi-player now because of this spin-off, so it makes me relieved and happy. Bioware Edmonton is not developing this game and will focus on making ME 3 a good game.
That's fair enough. I get a little

The first is a mp mass effect, we knew there were going to be other games, and one of those would have multiplayer...its not a bad thing guys, you all are treating it like the plague but look at a game like red dead redemption, the storyline is fantastic, the single player is a amazing, I was about to give mass effect 2 my game of the year until this came out. (ME2 still gets it but that one game really close).
At the same time the multiplayer is a blast as well. Hell look at the warcraft/starcraft series, both good single player, and legendary multiplayer.
Multiplayer, if handled well, is not a bad thing. At the same time dont worry about the rpgs, bioware knows that it is an rpg company, and they will continue to make those, but the occasional other game, if handled well, could be extremely positive.
The other thing was people freaking out and putting bioware/mass effect to the torch before we even know that the game is a mass effect game. Bravo guys, you have succesfully started hating a game, literally before it officially exists.

/sarcasm off. As usual, you're all being big crybabies.
Well eventually all Bioware rumors come true. This was the most popular theory ever since we noticed that there was a job posting for a online developer that was going to be involved with Mass Effect.
Now the real questions are:
Is it going to be 1st person or 3rd person?
Is it going to have a single player campaign. If so, is it going to be set before, after, during the events of the trilogy?
Will multiplayer be like CoD, TF2 or Battlefront/Battlefield?
My hopes are for a 3rd person, with single player campaign (hopefully around the 8 hour mark, minimum) and Battlefront, class based multiplayer (I'm not big on multiplayer though).

People who have a preference for one type of game over another and who might not like the direction that bioware is going and dare to say so, are just crybabies? Sure, Hmmmm,.... Ok.
They're not going in a new direction, they're branching out. There's a big difference here. If Bioware had decided not to do RPGs anymore and become a shooter developer now because there's more money in that, then you'd have every reason to be upset, and I would be too. But that's not what's happening. Even if all of this is true (and let's not forget it's just a rumor at this point.) One of their teams, NOT the one working on ME3, seems to be working on a shooter. If you're not interested in shooters, this has ZERO effect on you and the games you want to play. None what-so-frickin'-ever. Not to mention this is NOT the first time Bioware is developing a non-RPG. MDK2 and that supposedly horrible Sonic game (I wouldn't know, never played it, not interested) have been mentioned repeatedly in this thread, but a certain, ahem, part of the community is conspicuously ignoring both this and the fact that this is a supposed to be a separate game that won't affect the core Shepard ME trilogy.
So in conclusion, yes, you're crybabies.
